--------------- Original 2.19.15 Post Below: -----------------

Starting “Mid-March”, 2015...

The Municipality Of Mont Tremblant together with Transport Quebec
have announced a significant construction project scheduled to take
place over 14 Weeks to replace the Bridge over the Waterfall on
Chemin du Village at the sector adjacent to Lac Tremblant and
the Government Dock.

This is an important upgrade however the detour will mean a
back-track out to the Montee Ryan Roundabout for Village Residents
while the bridge and road are closed.

June 13th, 2015 Up-Date:

Work on the Bridge has been progressing along at a visibly quick pace
and we think that this is likely due to the necessity of infrastructure
completeness for the Ironman Event coming up for the weekend
of June 20, 21, 2015.

Retrospective, Starting At May 17, 2015:

The bulk of the basic structural concrete work was in place by May 17th.
This pic below shows the view from the North Side of the bridge.

Below: A zoomed in segment of the above pic. shows the water sprinklers
keeping the freshly poured concrete damp to ensure the quality of the final
casting.

Moving forward to June 10th, 2015 status:

By this past week, the dramatic advances towards completion are very evident
in this 3 shot series. Comparing the pic above from May 17th, the first one below
from June 10th, shows the bridge structure complete and the roadbed compacted
right up to the edge of the bridge.

For those interested in Bridge Construction Technologies: Additional Detail View.
The concrete has been covered by a thick mat which may have multiple purposes,
but based on the appearance of the heavy black sealant around and between the
panels, may be the principle barrier, i.e. a “membrane" between what will eventually
be the paved road surface and the concrete to prevent Water and Winter Road Salt
from working its way down causing structural deterioration.

The finishing is at the same level of preparation on both North and South sides
of the bridge and we would not be surprised to see this entire repaired/replaced
section paved by early this week coming up.

Based on the all of the above, we’d say this project is right on, or maybe
even a day or two ahead of schedule.

In our option, the road transit link from the Old Village to the Resort Via
this bridge should be fully restored for the target date of June 19th and
the upcoming Ironman Event.

June 18th, 2015 Up-Date:

Chemin du Village Bridge Project Appears Complete,
however it is not yet open to vehicular traffic. There are
barriers at either end of the construction zone(as of
6.18.15, @ 18:00hrs.), but pedestrian traffic seems
to be allowed as the barriers are open wide enough to
allow individuals to pass through.

This bridge is a big deal for Old Mt. Tremblant Village people, but in a way
that some might say is taken for granted when it’s always there. Only
when it’s been out of commission does it’s importance become so sharply
highlighted. Sure, there was another, far longer way around, but bridges are
symbolic too... they easily take us from where we are to where we want to be
over obstacles that would be difficult to traverse otherwise, so there’s a real
sense of psychological, emotional relief when it’s path is restored.

Friday morning...

We drove over at 11:30 A.M. just to see if the barriers from yesterday were
gone, but crews there were still packing up detour signs, barriers and pylons.
They did tell us the opening was for Noon.

It was re-opened without ceremony(that we’re aware of)(**), at 12:00 P.M. Noon,
June 19th, 2015 and we drove over its smooth, flawless pavement at 12:15.
The last version of this bridge opened in 1953, so here’s to another 62 years.

(**) not without occasion though, as previously mentioned, the bridge opening
co-incides with the weekend of the Tremblant June 20th, 2015 Ironman Events.
