T360 Apres Ski Evening Edit Under Construct @ 10:10.P.M.

There’s Good News...

and then...

There’s Other Seasonally Normal News...

The “Good News" First???? sure....

There is Excellent Skiing Within The Open Terrain.

Here is one sample of many...

In Other “Good News”, the Gondola was In Service Today, and..
we understand, the Gondola will be In Service Tomorrow as well,
(subject to morning confirmations).

The Gondola has been off-line due to what we understand
is a scheduled service, however that seems to have been set aside.

The effect of the Gondola running was that Guests had a Dry Seat Up
and with the no-rain, still/just “Cloud Mist” afternoon, the Dry Seat Up
was greatly appreciated by many.

In the "Other Seasonally Normal News”...

There’s no doubt, the “Heat” we refer to in the Orig.
post below, has had recent and noticeable effect.

We are beginning to observe some quickly enlarging
Brown-Out Zones, primarily on West Facing Lower Elevations
and/or around Sou/West Facing Wind Driven barren Crests.

McCulloch Is Actually A Fine Technical Condition Sample.

McCulloch has Wall-To-Wall Coverage, some Icy bits, but
basically, in really good shape. Pin-Sharp Balance is required
for optimal performance in any Super-Soft, including
McCulloch, but with Expert Focus, fairly easy.

Ultimately, there was Loads Of Pure Spring Fun,
Great Carving Snow, Great Swivelled Parallel Style,
Almost “Any Style On Any Trail Open”, Super Smooth
Groomed, CORDUROY ALL DAY LONG...
it did not rain all afternoon, although there
was very fine suspended Fog particulate
and some light periods of drizzle.

It was Fast Fast Corn Snow, There were
no other visible people except at lifts where
you might see 3 or 4 people.

Within all Skill Level Terrain Ratings, it was “Easy”.

The only unfortunate part... obviously due to Hot Weather...

Tomorrow’s Weather is forecast to be Light Rain Icons
with Temp’s up to +8C at Sud, South, Resort Base Level.
Moderate, but Gusty Westerly Winds, so coming up the
Mountain over the McCulloch Summit Entrance between
Grand Manitou and the Soleil Quad Summit Terminal.
There is some probability that with the Light Rain Icons,
the Active Weather may pass over in Bands, so there could
be dry periods and/or dry sectors, all day... maybe.

Generally Speaking, what you need to know is
that Spring Skiing becomes a Selective Process
and one clue to where there is a very good selection
of durable, quality Terrain is in this picture with almost
4 Feet of Trail-Side Snow in the Lowell Thomas Sector,
Versant Nord, North Side, that is only about 48 Hours Old.

Repeat from 48 hrs ago.
"Please Note the Ski Pole on the Left Screen-side. All you can see is the hand-grip.
The rest of the 120cm’s/48 inch pole, is buried straight into the Trail-Side Bush
Snow-Pack, meaning that in this Versant Nord, North Side, mid-Lowell Thomas
area, the ambient depth of snow in the Bush is still close to 4 feet.
For April 9th, that’s amazing. There are some seasons where this is
bare ground by this date, or if there is still snow, it may only be a few
inches or Cm’s, a fraction of what we see here now."

It’s Still There.

This is the start of the last week of the Season...

52(*) Open Trails on Versant Sud, South and Nord, North Sides at #Tremblant .

Here’s What You’ll Need To Start Off With...

But A Very Positive Last Minute Change In The Forecast
Indicates No Rain Between 11:00 A.M. and Last Run @ 4:00 P.M.

No Matter What The Weather Does...

Recent(as in within the last few hours), rain often results in
a Super-Fast Top Layer of Pure Spring “Corn” Snow.

The only way to confirm that is with Field Work Research, so
until we can get out there it’s more or less all speculation
about how conditions may actually be, because the possibility
also exists that excessive moisture may cause some sticky bits.

More “Wild Cards” of Spring!

At least there’s still Excellent Coverage for April 11th, so regardless
of the speed in surfaces today, this vast degree of coverage within
the Open Terrain has meant very easy navigation with far fewer
natural hazards than might be normal for this date.

Additionally, even if there is some moisture induced drag on plateau’s
or shallow pitches, the steeper Open Terrain should be quite easy with
the super-soft cushion to absorb gravitational forces.

Go For Gravity!

Yesterday Duncan was a Classic Gravity Run that was a
perfect example of how slope offsets wet snow resistance.
We had an EXCELLENT run down the top pitch of Duncan
you see here, with just the right amount of Soft Snow Friction
to allow either easy deep carving or quick swivelled Parallel turns.
So, no matter your style, any line straight down this portion of Duncan
was a blast to rip through!

4.10.17.Duncan.Summit.Pitch.Super.Soft.Snow.Fun.d.jpg (419.71 KiB) Viewed 1867 times
It should also be noted that "If You Were Careful....”, even a confident
Intermediate could have successfully navigated this Duncan slope with
a Snowplow Turn Sequence, as the surface softness was very easy
to grip on over its entire width. In that regard, Duncan did not generate
any of the deep moguls found elsewhere, so it remained very User Friendly
all day.

Another Example Of Yesterday Go For Gravity!

Versant Sud, South Side, Erik Guay.

Erik Guay required more Expert Skill sets
because of the larger moguls, however with
careful speed, and under control at all times,
they where very soft. If you had the muscle
for it, these moguls are fun to blast through
the tops of, but speed control was even more
critical for safety as the odd one had a more
dense core which could launch you airborne
if your velocity too great.

4.10.17.Sud.South.Erik.Guay.Soft.Spring.Moguls.a.jpg (327.73 KiB) Viewed 1816 times
Today could be completely different, but with careful
exploration, the best Sweet Spots and Runs will become
evident very quickly.

Weather Notes:

While the rain may stop, there is a possibility of Cloud/Fog,
so get out your Yellow Lens Eyewear if required.

It’s not going to be as warm as it was yesterday, so with the
Overcast, perhaps some atmospherically suspended dampness
as Fog or Mist, you will want to have a breathable membrane
as your outer garment layer.

Another One Of These....

Messy Driving, if it happens, but as far as Skiing goes,
we’d much rather see Freezing Rain than plain old rain,
because Freezing Rain is not erosive or corrosive to Trail
Surfaces. After it falls, it can be integrated with Grooming,
so inconvenience is temporary.

Our Apologies for irregular publishing timing
as we’ve experienced system errors in the
editing platform that are not yet fully resolved.
Sorry about that.

In The Mean-Time...

We think the main thing Regional Tremblant
Fans need to keep in mind is the limited remaining
opportunities for Skiing that are going to be completely
expired in less than a week.

It’s been a Great Season and it’s also going to be a long
wait ’til the end of next November, so we encourage
every one of our Diehard Tremblant Friends to make all
the final efforts they can to get every last run possible.
