12/13/17 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Apres Ski, Evening Edit @ 8:45 P.M.

Some Sun, Some Cloud Fog, Some Snowfall,
Quite a bit of Wind(at least over the Summit Level
facing pitches), Quite Cool,

and...

Very, Very Fine Skiing.

Please check the Updates from this morning that were inserted
into the body of the Orig. post below.

The Open Trail Count was revised/reduced to 40(*) open Trails.
The two largest being Taschereau and McCulloch.
We will include that data below at the bottom of this page.

Here’s a 10 Day peek at the Tremblant Summit Weather Forecast
of Weather Underground.

Continued very cool for late Fall for tomorrow, but the
benefit will continue on in the form of Excellent, Mid-Winter
Surface Quality on everything Open.

And A HUGE Big Bunch Of FUN!

A Current Scan of Local Tremblant Social Media Feedback comes up with
samples like...
“La Neige Est Parfait.”

This could be translated to be:

The Snow Is Perfect.

If you saw our entry for yesterday, you would recognize that there
is a consensus on our part, as we wrote:

"It’s really quite a simple point...

This is some of Finest Snow you will ever Ski on."

For the last few Seasons we have periodically put it in terms that
make Historical Sense to us, as:

At Tremblant... "Average is Excellent.”

Within a Historical Reference of personal Skiing Experience that
spans Decades, the new “Average” when judged by the conditions
of the “Good Old Days”, is indeed, “Excellent”.

It is an Observational Fact that “Average” today at Tremblant would
have been “Excellent” on Any Day of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s.

It could probably have been stated back in the 1970’s that Average compared
to the standards of the 1950’s would have been “Excellent” too, so maybe it’s
just the benefit that each new generation of Technology brings to any given
current Era, BUT... Winter Alpine Snow Sports Like Skiing and Snowboarding
are totally dependant on the Primary Mother Nature Permission of “Sub-Zero C”,
so within that specific parameter(which has not changed for 10,000 years since
Ancient Scandinavian Peoples first used Leather to strap Planks to their feet),
Humans have made tremendous advances to get to this point of generating
such true Skiing Excellence within the basic physical circumstances of “Sub-Zero C”.

That is where we are at over all the Open, Groomed Terrain
at Tremblant, today.

T360 Theory:
Objectivity may be argued to be relative.

For examples, if you are a 12 year old Race Kid who has grown up on these Slopes,
you’ll take these conditions as being totally average, because within your short
frame of time reference this is(in terms of prepared Trail Surface Quality) Average.

If you are a 50 Year old Expert Tremblant Local who remembers the tiny strips
of barely Open Trails, maybe between 4 or 5, up to 15 or so (when you genuinely
needed “Rock Skis” for hacking very rough conditions),in a really good early December
during the 1970’s when you grew up here, then to have such an almost unbelievable
array of Open Terrain, at comparative standards of “Excellent”, well, it’s just Amazing,
there’s just no other way to put it.

If you are an “Elder Skier” who started out here in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s...
you’ll just think it’s “Bizarre” to have such a ridiculously Large and High
Quality Open Trail List at this date. You might even think you died and
somehow ended up in some sort of Tremblant-Heaven, where everything
is oddly, but beautifully Near-Perfect???

The bottom line remains however, that right now at Tremblant,
Average IS Excellent!

If you have not yet been out on the Slopes Of Tremblant this Season,
then the instant your Skis run on these Fantastic Super Snow Trails,
your brain is just going to try to tell you it feels like any Great Mid-Feb.
Winter day on virtually all of the Open Terrain. If You Can... do not waste
a single moment of this. We think it’s Historic.

If you live far away and can’t be here yet, your enthusiastic anticipation
is very well placed and you should go to the Gym often, and do the heaviest
Leg Presses you can to get ready for the Muscle you will want to have
when you get here.

To T360 Paraphrase Lord Baden-Powell...

“Get Prepared To Be Prepared."

--------------- 9:44 A.M. Update ----------------

Sunshine and Smooth Sailing!

It probably won’t last all that long as it is Forecasted to be
quite a Heavy Snowfall today.

More Smooth Sailing...

Elsewhere in these Forums, you will find debate about the
Opening of this trail in either Raw, Un-Groomed condition,
or as we have it this season, very well Groomed. The loose
Snow visible is from the current Snowfall and the Trail Base
itself is smooth, with no moguls.

Weather Notes:

At Cooler Mountain Elevations, these temp’s are going to want careful
attention to outer garment layers. The benefit is the quality of the very
high amount of Cold Formed Natural Snow that’s been Groomed throughout
the Open Alpine Trail Network. It’s Mid-Winter Temps and Performance
in Fall!

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
