2/19/18 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Middle of the Night-Shift Apres Ski @ 1:50 A.M.

Lets Start With Last Run...

At The End Of the Day... It Was Snowing Heavily
On All 4 Sides Of Tremblant. The Forecast “Rain”,
did not ever happen, and up to the time of this
update, it is still snowing.

The Entire Vertical Rise seemed to remain just below the freezing
mark and it began to snow at about 2:00P.M. over all sectors of
Tremblant. The intensity of the snowfall was such that Summit views
were reduced from what you see below, to less than 25 metres or so
at the Summit at Last Run.

The Skiing was Very High Traction, and Very Fast,
but it did not soften nearly as much as we had thought
it might. Considering it was supposed to start Raining
this afternoon, the apparent Cool and Snowfall were
very welcome changes and all the new snow was actually
beginning to build up. Any delays or deferrals of rain forecast
like this are great news for the base, even for a few hours.
If it lasts all night, very good news if it means a shorter
or cooler warm spell than was originally anticipated.

Tomorrow? Big Wild Card, But So-Far... No Rain!

Of course... that could all change any minute...

We may see a repeat for most, if not the whole day today and...

The Skiing Should Be Another Incremental Rise Above.

Weather Notes:

There may be a remote possibility that some of early Tuesday’s Precip.
could come as snow over cooler Mountain Elevations?

In our opinion, this upcoming time period may test the reserve of only
the Surface Levels of the Mountains massive core of stored refrigerant.

At least today's initial rainy bits are locally indicated as small icons in the
forecast, which usually means either/or both light drizzle/rain, or light
rain/drizzle that often pass in localized bands of activity.

These bands of active precip. could pass over or even by-pass around the
Mountain, and their intensity could be highly variable between nothing and
really wet.

Many, many “Wild Cards” here Tremblant fans, and your patience
during any practice of preservation or strategic Snow retention
management by Mountain Op’s, may be necessary.

Our hope is that the deep frost can act as a barrier and facilitate
the Shedding Off of any Wed. rainy bits, to come through to the other side
of a return to sub-Zero’s at Mountain Elevations which looks like Thursday.
If we are Lucky, we may enjoy the benefit of being “North” in latitude
because there is some probability the most heavy concentration of
active precipitation will be at more Southerly Latitudes below Tremblant,
over Montreal and lower.

In the Mean-time, Enjoy “Spring Skiing” with Full Winter Trail Coverage
on whatever is included in upcoming Open Trail lists.

Clinically Speaking, and with specific regard to the Tremblant Alpine Snow
Sports Trail Network, it is our Theory that the Weather Potential Exists
For A Super-Spring Convergence Of Mega-Shred Surfaces With Fully And
Completely Wall-To-Wall, Snow White Winter Coverage, and the Full Support
Of A Very Deep Ambient Ground Frost.

This combination could possibly offer “Best Of Season” Snow Surface Performance,
with “Spring-Like" Qualities For All Skill Levels over the next several days.

This is Notwithstanding Atmospherically Active Weather that may require
Adaptive Dress for Wet possibilities.

We could be wrong, but think about it like this...

It’s going to be Warm, and at the same time,
there’s a TON of Very Frosty Snow in the Base.

We are running a Regional Weather Summary Graphic repeat below,
as it is still directly applicable to Today.

want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
