T360 Epic Tremblant Powder Day Apres Ski Edit, Under All
Evening Construct @ 10:13 P.M.

If You Skied Tremblant Every Open Day For 10 Years,
You Might Have 3 or 4 Unexpected, Un-Forecast,
Surprise Powder Days Like Today... Maybe.

Basically, there are places at Tremblant that got 40cm’s
of Fresh Powder Snow in less than 4 hours.

The Weather Forecast Said “Rain”...

We Said... “We think there is a fair probability of Cooler Mountain Elevations
getting Snow.”

Sorry for the very Snow-Smeared-Snow-Filtered-Lens-Soaked
Blizzard-Obscured-Snow-Balled-Drifted-In-Camera Fails...

Photography Conditions Were Lousy...

So Much Rapid, White-Out Snowfall, we were lucky to be able
to get ANYTHING(**)!!!.... But....

We got this one right(!), and...

The Skiing And Snowboarding Were Epically Spectacular!!!

We have more pic’s to process, and that’s taking about triple-time
just to render out any detail, but... We’re Overjoyed To Have The “Problem”!!!

There’s So Much New Snow, It’s Quite Close To “Miraculous”!!!

If You Can’t Already Figure It Out...

Tomorrow Should Be AMAZING!!!

-Sunny
-Moderate to Light Nor-Easterly Breezes
-Tons Of Fresh Snow almost EVERYWHERE!
-Light Mid-Week Traffic,

If You Can Go, and You don’t... You're “Nuts”!
If You Should’t Go, But You Do... You’re Brilliant!

All this New Snow will create extra challenge for Beginners
and Intermediates. Mountain Crews should have the basic
Green’s done so everyone has room to practice, but be very
careful to stay within your Matched Skill rated Terrain.

EXPERTS... You Just Won The Snow-Lottery!

More In The Morning, but seriously... Just Go!!!

((**) The Camera Control Buttons, Settings-Wheel, Lens Retractor,
Zoom Toggle, View Screen, Digital Viewfinder, and Total Function,
All Failed... Multiple Times. “Soaked” by being Snow-Squalled-on
barely begins to describe the CRAZY amount of Snow that Overwhelmed
almost every attempt to even get camera out of coat, let alone, try to aim
and focus... approximately 15 or so out of over 250 attempts worked!)

We Think It’s A Good Thing That There’s Been Less “Spring” Than Forecast.

Generally, surfaces did not soften yesterday to the degree that +6C
would normally generate. We are thankful for that because any genuine
overall softness might be great fun, but is’s only Feb.28th and we want
to see continued stability in both coverage and base for a long while to go.

What this meant for the Skiing was that there was less “Forgiveness”
due to the shallower depth of overall softness. There certainly was a
considerable amount of softness, but other than maybe around the
bottom of the Flying Mile Quad Base, there was no “Mush” that could
lead to saturation anywhere. Indeed, you could tell from Pole Plants that
would bounce off the Solid Frost Substrates, and from many of the Nord,
North Side upper level Trails that remained Firm all day long, Winter is
hanging in here up “North" to the great benefit of Ski/Board Fans who are
smart enough to choose Tremblant.

Below:

This is a common level of Surface Performance
at Tremblant right now. As you can see, there is
a high level of grip and edge hold is very good
as long as you are not “Jamming” your turns too
aggressively. The “Shred” Snow you see in the air
is a combination of mixed Machine-Groomed, with
a “Soft” component in the very top layer.

Below:

In this next Trail Surface Sample, we’re on Versant Nord, The North Side
Expo Peak Sector, Trail #78, Fuddle-Duddle Bas, Lower, just at the Lower
La Griffe Intersection. The Ski is for scale and to show the slight snow wetness
that is just starting to become apparent here. Basically, at the Early-Aft.
time of this pic., this is the line on the North Side vertical rise at which
there is mostly firm snow above, and softer snow below. In terms of
Total Mountain Vert., this might be the lower 1/5, so 4/5 of the North
was still quite Winter Firm, with very good traction.

Meanwhile, down “South”, as in from Montreal and latitudes below, warm
exposures have been substantially higher and longer, where temps have
gotten up to +10C/50 degrees F.

This Weather is being driven by a somewhat unexpected Easterly Based
Dominant System over the Atlantic Ocean. We’ll take a closer look at that
in our Weather Notes below.

Weather Notes:

The Icon’s displayed have been changed to show a Mix that now
includes Snow. Considering that the temp’s are lower than yesterday,
we think there is a fair probability of Cooler Mountain Elevations
getting Snow. It is also possible that precipitation may only be in
localized bands of activity that move over, or even around the
Mountain, so there are good chances for positive outcomes.

Dominant Atlantic Ocean Easterly Weather System Currently
Effecting Tremblant Within Regional Context.

In this Composite Graphic below, in Frame#2, you can see the precip.
colour patch in which Blue shows Snow, and Green, on the lower edge,
shows Rain. So-far, Tremblant continues to be just on the Blue side.
Of course... that could change, but every hour we stay “Blue”, is an
advantage, immediate and long range.
