The Biggest Single Reason You’re Going To Have A Great Day
At Tremblant Today, Is...

4 Days Ago It Looked Like This At Tremblant For Over 8 Hours.

The Snowfall Event Depicted Above...

Was an unexpected “Game Changer” by ANY account,
and we believe we are fully justified in referring to it
today and for days to come, because it has literally
and very positively affected what all Tremblant Guests
are enjoying the benefit of, right now, and looking
well forward into future days.

Another way to think of it is that if you won a Very Big Lottery,
in addition to the immediate influence on your life, you’d probably
talk about it for a while afterwards.

At Least Figuratively...

Tremblant Won The Snowfall Lottery With This Event.

The initial Snowfall that is now the majority of what
you will be Skiing and Boarding on today, came as a
relatively, even surprisingly, light and fluffy powder
snow that you can physically see as big, fat snowflakes
in the above pic. It was so thick, it made it hard to see
detail beyond about 7 metres away, and there was
no such thing as a “Panoramic View” at Tremblant for
over 8 hours.

Our Theories Are:

What Happened In The Air... Winds Aloft, Atmospheric
Conditions seemed to be evidently far cooler than Surface
air temps, Big Snow that comes at temps so close to Zero C,
does not usually fall with such lightness, so we think it was
formed in much colder air, very high up above the Mountain.

What Happened On The Ground... Surface Level Humidity
caused the snow to eventually become heavier, and to a degree,
it “Settled” in the sense that it became compressed with
its own weight. This humid density seemed to cause it to bond
very well with the pre-existing firm and somewhat icy base
and the net result has been a Fantastic Synergy of Trail Quality
in both Groomed and Un-Groomed over virtually the entire Mountain.

Everything within the Winter Alpine Snow Sports Trail
Network
(**), has been very positively enhanced by this
Big Recent Snow, and what all Tremblant Guests Get
in the Groomed, Is....

More Groomed, More Densely Packed...

And All Good!

In The Un-Groomed, The Softness is a direct function of Depth,
with particular note in zones of Wind Shaped Contour Drifting
that have more accumulation than the statistical total.

It’s a “Phuzzy” one, for sure...
But we still think it says a lot about Mogul conditions!

Above:
Taking Long Telephoto’s off a moving High Speed Quad Chair
in an intense Blizzard-Like Snowstorm, is never going to be
considered “Ideal” for photography, but even with that excuse
for the fuzziness of this pic., we still think it coveys a sense
of Speed and dynamic movement of displaced Snow that
gives Experts a precise insight, so we kept it for that reason.
Looking closely at the Downhill flying snow generated by this one
turn shows how soft it was, and easily you could blast through it.

The Downstream Benefits...

Every Day is going to see the benefit of increased density
because Grooming applies 12,500Lbs. worth of pressure, Per Machine,
over the still rather loose top layers with every pass. With the
overnight Low’s well into the Sub-Zero’s, there are very good
chances it could stay really, really FAST!

GO IF YOU CAN!!!

(**)It was almost “Unreal” that the extent of the snowfall
came down to within literally a few feet of the Resort Sud,
South Base Level(on Nord, North it was all Snow and never
anything else). The Top of the Cabriolet got rainy sleet, the
P1 Parking and much of the surrounding low level community
got rain and rainy sleet, intermittently mixed with snow.
A friend of ours that was working at the Gondola Base
thought he’d not been that “Wet” through and through
in any recent memory, but... even just a few metres up
from Johannsen’s very base runout, it was all Snow,
and huge amounts too. At the time, we described it as
near “Miraculous”. We sometimes get criticized for
even suggesting “the possibility of Snowfall at Cooler
Mountain Elevations”, when the Forecast says Rain,
but we’d say we’re right about 80% because we’re very
conservative about the potential only when we see
most, or all of the co-factors in place. Maybe they
will take us more seriously the next time?

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)[/b]
