4/2/18 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Apres Mid-Night, Apres Ski Edit @ 12:01 A.M.

Did You Say April 2nd?

Looks/Skis Like Mid-Winter!!!

Generally, you’d be hard-pressed to tell it was April 2nd, or February
or March 2nd, as it was more “Winter" than “Spring" everywhere at Tremblant.

However, the “Spring” Part was quite evident on Algonquin, where Trail Surfaces
were all the “Spring” we thought they would be, and more(see Orig. Post below).

So-Far, the coverage is still mostly intact, however there are
thin spots that require perimeter navigation. The softness
generated moguls made the skills required definitely above
any Green/Beginner standards. To stay on top of solid, glitch-free
descent lines, careful speed control with rapid directional alterations
and moderate Mogul Skills were necessary. Today on Algonquin at
reasonable Speeds, was a workout guaranteed to raise your Heart-rate
into very demanding Aerobic output levels.

The Partially Sunny Forecast was very heavily skewed to “Partially”,
but there were occasional Bright Spots on the Trail, and Blue Sky was
visible through gaps in the Cloud Cover.

Overall a very Wintery Day in Early April!

Above:
Spontaneous, Random, Unplanned, Unstaged,
Just happened to be there, Smiles! Always the best
kind because they reflect real and genuine unfiltered
feedback about Conditions. It does not take a Rocket
Scientist to see the “Shred” quality in the surfaces above.

There were good grippy Snow Surfaces everywhere. There were
a few Icy Bits, but nothing Fresh Edges couldn’t easily chew through
and the ones we saw were all very, very small.

87(*) Open Trails on the Very Easy Temp’s And Seasonally Mature Spring Trails Of #Tremblant.

Here Are The Main Reasons It’s
Going To Be An Excellent Day At Tremblant:

Sunny,
Snow White,
Easy, Cool, Speed,
Low Traffic,
High Performance...

Conditions Notes:

We hope to explore Versant Soleil today due to its direct facing
Solar exposure and what we hope are the benefits of a balance
between softening and retained speed. The Object is to compare those
qualities to the overall Mountain firmness of the Re-Chill under the
currently evolving Early April Jet Stream Forecast. Basically, we think
it’s possible Versant Soleil may have the most uniform Summit-to-Base
Spring Surfaces, and we want to test that theory.

This above is a shot of the right facing side of upper Versant Soleil
and you can see one curve in “Toboggan”, screen-left, and if you
look closely, you’ll see a faint diagonal trail line under the topographical
peak on Screen-right, and that trail line is Algonquin. As beautiful as
it is, Algonquin can be sensitive to Solar as far as coverage, so the fact that
it is Open is a great indicator to start with.

Otherwise... If You Have Tuned Edges...

You Will Have A Blast, Of Rocket Fast!

Warm got Froze,
So them that Knows,
With Edges Goes.

Period.

...so says Ski-Yoda.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
