There have been many Great April’s at Tremblant.

Regardless of the total “Open” Terrain, Mountain Crews always
optimized the available Trail Network, large or small,

however...

In the last 20 years, only one or two others are similar to April
2018 in the Late Arrival of Extended Snow and Supporting Temps.

The Performance all day was universally Fine, Fast and Smooth Fun,
on all the Groomed Terrain
.

Carve This... If You Can...
Miles and Miles, Km’s + Km’s “+++”
of Very Sweet, extremely high Quality, and
reliable Carving Edge-Set, Groomed Trail
characteristics, Just Like This:

Some Signs Of Spring...

Oh Yeah.. It is April 9th, and even though “Winter” seems to want
to stick around, “Spring” is inevitably on the way...

There Are “Seasons Best” Trail Surfaces On The Slopes Of Tremblant
Right Now and that should be enough on its own to motivate your attendance.
Add in the fact that it’s the Last Official Week of the Season and you’ll
have to wait ’til the end of next November to Ski at all, and it almost
becomes an urgent priority to experience this Excellence now. Otherwise,
you’ll just have to wait 7 months, and the odds are, you won’t get it close
to this good then anyway.

Just remember, the basis for what’s at Tremblant right now is the finish
of the Season with second best Snow Accumulation in 20 years.

Above:
This might look like a shot from mid-February...
but it’s a real, genuine, April 9th, 2018 “Eye Opener” from
an adjacent Old Mt.Tremblant Village, Hill-Side vantage
point this morning. We could not be happier to have
the cool Snow-White ambience either, it holds the promise
of a Great Ski Day to follow.

Zooming in, we’d like to highlight a very big Grooming utility which is
Trail #12, Erik Guay, which has been flattened and levelled and
consequently has a new-found ease of use today that will be enjoyed
by many fans of this local favourite.

Erik Guay has recently been left as a Mogul run, and there are many who
enjoy it as such, however we suspect there are at least an equal number
who appreciate its very consistent pitches at speeds that are not possible
when the tight moguls were there. Today is a great day to experience some
Rapid Transit on Erik Guay, especially this afternoon(we think), when a wee
bit of Solar Energy in combination with rising air temps may give it just a
touch of softness for Ski/Board Edges to get some serious bite on.
(For the sake of the Dramatic Difference to Erik Guay now, go back to
our 4/3/18(April 3rd.), Entry and you can see the same Zoomed-in POV,
but with Full Moguls from top-to-bottom.)

This is only one example, there are dozens more and we hope to highlight
some of those at Apres Ski, later on.

Otherwise...
Yesterday was the Final day in the Operational Life of the Oldest
Lift on the Mountain, the Fixed, Triple, Lowell Thomas Chair Lift.
This lift is being dismantled as of this morning to make way for
a new Detachable, High Speed Quad Chair replacement that will
add tremendous utility to this entire Upper Versant Nord Sector.

While the old Lowell Thomas Triple was slow and more difficult to
get on, it never-the-less had an excellent reputation for reliability
and it was sometimes the only lift available for Seasons Opening
in November, especially in it’s early life decades ago, when upper
Beauchemin was the centre of what was Open for the first few days.

From that perspective, we will always think of it fondly, but there’s
no doubt, the benefits of an upgrade to a High Speed Detachable
Quad is going to eliminate Lift Line ups, not only at Lowell Thomas
itself, but ultimately, we think everywhere, because it will change
the fundamental traffic patterns. When Mountain Guests realize the
advantage of using a quick zip back up to the Summit to utilize
this Upper North Sector on its own, as well as this new option as
an Equal Traffic Volume match for the capacity of the Expo Quad
to reach the Summit, it should have a direct effect on the Duncan
Quad traffic too.

For all the Tremblant Lift Staff that work there, the new lift is going
to eliminate one of their most physically challenging tasks that required
the manual swinging of the chair into the correct passenger loading
orientation, so the “User Friendly” attributes of the new lift should be
appreciated by everyone associated with it in either use or operation.

Congratulations to Tremblant Management, Mountain Op’s and all the
Contractors and Suppliers who will be involved with the design and
installation of the New Lift. This is a significant enhancement to the
array of Lift Service at Tremblant.

Weather Notes:

KKkkkool @ somewhere around -20 C at the Summit, -15 C overnight
at Sud, South Resort Base. This Cryogenic Cold Shock should “Cook”
out any humidity and the Morning Snow should be Extra Fast and
Extra High Traction.

Fortunately, what makes it High Performance also makes it Easy Performance
for all Beginners and Intermediates, so it’s the Low Resistance that makes
it so easy to execute control movements for everyone.

Conditions Notes:

Trail Coverage and Quality are at exceptional levels for this
time period of the Season, however...
With Temp’s, Traffic and Solar Factors Combined, it is possible
there may be some Icy Bits, and/or Icy Bits may develop.
If they occur, they should be in recognizable patterns at or
over topographical crests, on steeper pitches, at narrowing
trail restrictions, intersections, or run-outs, for examples.
Caution on initial explorations is always wise.

Generally speaking, it’s one of those days where the rapid
rise in temps, plus the sun, should generate a touch of Softness
this afternoon, so we think you may find surfaces more “Forgiving”,
just after lunch, and right on up to Last Run.
