Unfortunately, the Freeze-up created Safety Issues that necessitated
the reduction in Open Trails down to 39(*).(Archival Revised Data will
be attached below.) It is important to note that within the Open Terrain,
there was very fine, immaculately Groomed, super high performance,
mega-traction.

If you have fresh, sharp edges, you might think it was slick in places,
but for the most part, you would laugh at everyone else slip-sliding
around as you carved razor clean arch’s over most of the Open Terrain.

If you did not have fresh, sharp edges, you would have thought
it was quite icy or slick.

It was impossible to escape the freeze-up after the thaw when the temp’s
dropped 12 C and stayed Sub-Zero all day.

You needed to pick terrain you could work with by defaulting down
in challenge, if necessary, and then stick with it.

There was very good performance, but on a select basis.

At least all the Groomed was Super-Smooth. Some had a very
nice, thin but nice, loose top layers, while some was very “Solid”
but not really icy, just Groomed, Frozen-Solid, Corduroy Snow.

It was all as fast as a bullet.

It was actually thrilling to Super-Slalom Carve P’tit Bonheur/Beauchemin Bas,
and you could hold an amazing amount of lateral grip, enough
that you could feel centrifugal force loading up your quad muscles
on every turn. All without a single worry about Blow-out. Considering
how slippy a lot of steeper pitches were, choosing less steepness,
but having the Speed and the Grip, was a great trade-off for the sheer
fun of feeling like you were driving an Indy Car at Laguna-Seca.(**)

Tomorrow??? All Good for Conditions during Open hours
with even the possibility of Snow late in the afternoon.
The rainy icons in the forecast are now not supposed to
be until way into the overnight, so not a worry at this stage
with the Mountain closed until next weekends Bonus Open.

"Fingers Crossed” for luck on that one, so far the long range
has shown April 21 and 22 to be Sunny and Warm!!!

63(*) Open Trails on the Re-Chilled, Sunny, Winter Coverage Slopes of #Tremblant .

Yesterday, the temps in this Sunny scene below got up to about +6 C.
This morning, the Sunny part is largely the same, but it’s about -6 C.

Todays “User Friendly” will be directly proportional to
the Grooming that was possible after the Snow Surface
temps went Sub-Zero C.

So then, obviously the “Super-Soft-Spring Skiing” is not going to be
Super-Soft, however, what we are hoping to find is Super-Smooth
Post-Froze Groomed as mentioned above, which has every great potential
to be Fabulously Fast Fun, and just about All-Winter, all day.

All the Groomed will be smooth, but experience with these dropping
temp situations shows that the grooming done after the re-freeze
creates the most well optimized loose snow top layers that stay loose
and are closer to ideal for Skiing.

Besides that, due to the 12 degree C Overnight Drop in Temp’s from
+6C that return the Mountain elevations to well below Zero, there is
only One Major Element that can be beneficially carried forward
from yesterdays spectacular, Classic, Super-Soft-Spring Skiing,
which is the absolutely Outstanding, Wall-To-Wall, Winter Coverage.

There is no doubt that the extraordinary coverage for this date in
April is statistically way above average, so despite Mother Nature
freezing it all up last night, it’s still there. It now becomes a question
of how much is safe to open, or may be safe to bring on-line, if and when
softening does occur.

There may be some Solar Softening, possibly, later on, after noon,
but that remains to be seen in the evolving relationship between
Sun, what appears to be developing light overcast, and notably,
the wind, which could contribute to tipping the conditions either way.

Views like this should be almost exactly the same, even with the temp.
drop. Mountain Crews always prioritize Green, Beginner Terrain, so
there’s great consistency in the very best learning Trails like Nansen,
regardless of which way the thermometer has gone.

Today is the kind of day that could see the Open Trail Count go
up or down, and more than once, over the course of the day.
You can be very sure that the Ski Patrol will be out surveying
conditions on a continuous basis. Regardless of which way things
turn out, we support a “Safety First” approach.

Conditions Notes:

It may seem unusual because we have not had so much of the typical
“Spring” daily cycles of Daytime above Zero and Nighttime Below Zero
this season that are totally common and normal, but that is exactly
what we do have today. What we need to remind ourselves of is the
typically Excellent Results that Tremblant Mountain Op’s have Years
of experience and practice in delivering under these very same conditions.

For those reasons, we think there is going to be very fine Groomed
Terrain for all Skill Levels, and further, that todays experience is going
to be a very fine demonstration of "How To” produce a cool Spring day
of reliable consistent performance quality across the entire array of
Open Trails.

Page under Progressive Assembly,
Thanks for your visit!

It’s Groomed Winter Conditions over an excellent,
smooth base for the whole Weekend!

(**) Laguna Seca is a Race Track in Northern California known
for its dramatic elevation changes, corkscrew and tight, twisty
turns. Driving an Indy Car there is widely acknowledged as being
a unique and thrilling experience.
