T360 Prime Time Apres Ski Under Construct @ 8:17 P.M.

Today was arguably the very best overall Skiing Excellence
of this new season so far.

When you can have this kind of performance for run after run,
from side to side, from summit to base, hour after hour, from
First Tracks to Last Run, you KNOW you’ve had an extraordinary day.

The presence of the sun to light up the Mountain had a huge positive
effect after what seems to be weeks of snowy overcast. The dramatically
striking contrast between the white snow, the trees and the shape of
the distant geography provided the impressive views Tremblant is
known for around the world.

Watching people ski down to the Resort Base on Johannsen
was all the reassurance you needed to confirm the enjoyment
of experience as they were carving with enthusiastic vigour
right to within the last 10 metres of the snow. If they had
been capable of carving one more turn, they could have crashed
through the windows of La Forge and skied up to the bar.
Skiing Tremblant today was literally good to the last turn.

We can’t really convey all of the true essence of todays skiing experience
because there were qualities that are simply not easy to describe.
“Joyful”, “Exciting”, “Thrilling”, “Engaging”, “Superlative”, “Excellent”,
might all have meaning for today, but they still fall short.

Back on Monday we predicted that this week would see
upwardly escalating conditions that "are going to be some
of the very best Pre-Christmas conditions ever recorded.”

Today was the epitome of that prediction.

If we can get more confidence in the predictive accuracy
for tomorrows weird weather later tonight, we may add
more here, but at this stage, in our opinion there are still
some "Wild Cards” that could change outcomes. Right now
it initially looks like some really wet conditions.

Yesterday was a prime example that...(**)
Regional Race Teams All Know...

The very best early season training slopes are at Tremblant...
and...
for that exact same reason, it’s why you should be here too!

Any recreational Ski/Board Tremblant guest is going to
notice one of the single largest identifiable groups on
the Mountain are the hundreds of Jr. Race squads running
endless training laps on virtually every open slope.

They’re impossible to escape from! They’re also
inspirational! There are very few groups that
exhibit the enthusiasm of the swarms of young
racers. They can be heard cheerfully whooping it up
all over Tremblant as they buzz around all day
at energy levels that would tap out the average
adult in an hour!

The point is that when there may be just a few tracks open
back at “Yourtown”, only Tremblant has the length and
width of ideal training terrain that Coaches can genuinely
begin to build skills and endurance with for the heart of the
winter competition season that’s only a couple of weeks
away.

For those very fortunate recreational Skiers who hold
any form of Seasons Pass, and have the opportunity
to get out regularly, these early season, pre-Christmas
open slopes at Tremblant hold exactly the same benefits,
“Skills" and “Endurance”.

The physical fitness that can be derived from Skiing builds
quickly and very effectively from the very first run. Any
dedicated Skier will tell you that no matter what, or how
much “Off Season” training you do, the morning after your
first “All Day” Ski day, the unique demands on your muscle
will be clearly evident with the great feeling of all those little
aches and pains that only get activated with the sport itself.

We encourage and promote early season attendance for those
who can because of the well documented physiological and
psychological benefits that all kids and adults can derive from
including as full a season as possible of Alpine Snow Sports as
part of a vibrant, healthy lifestyle.

Weather Notes:

A fabulous day today with “Spring-like” Skiing.

We’ve already gotten a lot of questions about tomorrow,
but evidently it’s going to be the last day of “Fall” in what
may be the warm/wet ways, HOWEVER...

We are so lucky that this Fall has not really had any of these
totally normal warm burps so far, and one day should be
nothing to the overall “Winter” trend that is so well established
here. Nothing we can do about the weather, so get out your
Descente Poncho and be ready because tomorrows Skiing
will actually be excellent otherwise.

Conditions Notes:

(**)Photography on 12.19.18 was highly restricted due to
simultaneous snow/cloud/fog over the Mountain, so pic’s
limited as a result, however we did manage to get this one
sequence off the Expo Quad during a short gap in the weather.
None of that had anything to do with the overall excellence
in the open Alpine Trail Network here at Tremblant, and
smooth, fast, high levels of functional traction are hallmarks
of every day’s experience.

In the Expert Sous Bois, Glade, Hors Piste, Un-Groomed:

Very good early season conditions compared to any
previous Dec.20, but there are natural hazards that
correspond to the still early depths that are not yet
providing the total coverage of Mid-Season. Caution
is required in both speed and line-of-sight navigation,
especially on initial explorations.

In The Open Groomed Terrain:

Most of the Intermediate Blue, and practically all of
the Beginner Green, are very, very fine for this date.
The number of consecutive, 24 hour complete, Sub-Zero C
days so far this season has facilitated a rapid development
of extraordinary Trail Base quality. Due to the fact that there
have been so few days of Fall warmth, Mountain Crews have
been able to focus on refinement and that shows in the
Summit-to-Base, total vertical, as well as the Wall-to-Wall
finished trail widths that were established weeks ahead
of historic averages.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
