The above pic’s are a mini-feature on Versant Nord, North Side
Beauchemin Bas, Lower, just below the Lowell Thomas Quad Base
plateau. It is one of our “Goto” locations(and only one example)
for these types of action shots because it has a great series of moderate
pitches that can generate some serious speed. Due to the very spacious
width that can safely accommodate all those who enjoy this trail, it is one
of the most reliable, high quality, descents at Tremblant and it is always
beautifully maintained. It actually flies under the radar a lot, probably
because it’s not some sort of extreme or radical terrain that gets a lot of
attention, but run after run, day after day, the Beauchemin centred
Summit-to-base Nord, North descent options that can include all
of the Lowell Thomas Sector trails, plus P’tit Bonheur, offer Tremblant
guests some of the very finest, most consistently smooth and fast
skiing at this Resort.

The Point Is...

If you spend much time on the internet researching Skiing, you’ll
find there is a lot of attention paid to very dramatic or extreme
terrain. With all kinds of waist deep powder, or jumping off 20 foot
cliffs, skimming through the Glade Trees at high speed or doing
inverted airborne tricks off the Park modules, you’d think that’s
what everyone does all day. In reality, it's trails like Beauchemin
that are the backbone of every Resort and for real, everyday, normal
skiers and boarders, they offer some of the very finest and totally
satisfying, even thrilling(with a wee bit of safe speed), descent
experiences where you can always count on reliable quality.

Conditions Notes:

The recent weather has reduced the access to the Sous Bois,
Glade, Hors Piste, and Un-Groomed, and what is needed is
more natural snow before much of that comes back on-line.
We are not alone on that account as virtually all of Eastern
North America has had the same recent weather exposure.

----------------- Update --------------------------
Please Note: Re: Revised Open Trails for today.
Sous Bois, Glade Fans will be very happy to see
Versant Nord, North, Windigo re-open, as well as
all Edge Sector Sous Bois re-open. Please see archived
Open Trail data posted below.
--------------------------------------------------------

In the mean-time, the Groomed terrain has daily refinements
from the repeated Night-Shifts that are improving the scope and
consistency of loose top layers that support serious levels of
performance. The daily durability of the soft surfaces each
mornings grooming produces is proportional to pitch angle,
so steeper portions may have the firm base exposed during
the day and more gentle slopes never lose their softness.

We recommend that all skill levels pay strict attention to matching
terrain difficulty to actual abilities as indicated by personal control
capability. In other words, if you find you can’t easily control speed,
direction, and perhaps most importantly, braking and stopping,
then you must step the steepness down until you can.

Holiday time is filled with the joyful exuberance of many folks
who have been cooped up in school or at work and this may
be their first opportunity to get out on the slopes, so it is possible
enthusiasm may exceed abilities? Watch out for those who may
make unpredictable moves and allow extra passing margins
for safety.

Please Note:

The Snowmaking Icons are reactivated and there is an
impressive amount of terrain under development. Quite
possibly the most significant in terms of both size and
Tremblant Fans is “Expo”. Please review for near-term
potential openings.
