12/29/18 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

59(*) Open Trails on all 4, Progressively Available, sides of #Tremblant .
Please Note: A) Initial Trail Openings reduced to 29(*) due to natural
weather factors, additional Trails to follow pending Ski Patrol confirmations.
We will attempt to update the Trail list to End-of-day status.
Please Note: B) We expect the Open Trail List to be highly dynamic
as a result of dropping temps from above to below Zero C/32F, and
we specifically recommend you consult with on site Tremblant Info.Ski Crews
for current updates.

You Will Be Able To Find This Out There Today.

We are not exactly sure how much yet, but with these
types of weather patterns, the best conditions typically
show up as “Sweet Spots”, or zones of good performance.

Your Mission For Today Is To... Identify those “Sweet Spots”
of optimized snow surface performance relative to your
realistic skill level. We suggest that after your cautious initial
explorations, you stick with them in order to stay safe and
have as much fun as possible.

Complicated weather dynamics can often result in good
performance in surprising areas you might not normally
expect. There may not seem to be any visible reasons,
but we can tell you for a fact, they will be out there.

The availability of loose, soft, top layers should
be directly proportional to pitch angle and time of day.
Holiday traffic will probably cause trail centres to have
less softness as the day progresses so you need to be
prepared to deal with evolutionary changes.

Do not assume the trails you ski this morning to be exactly
the same this afternoon. In that regard, particularly with
respect to lateral trail dimensions, you may expect to find
the soft snow moving towards trail edges/sides where it
tends to accumulate over time.

There will inevitably be slick and icy bits in the mix.
As a consequence of all the above and below factors,
they too will be highly evolutionary in the way they
present. It is most likely that they may increase
in square area with traffic, and over time, so you really
need to be watching for developing hazard patterns to
proactively anticipate possible difficulty.

As usual, your best friends are tuned edges, especially
if you are into “Exploring”.

The Racers Are Still Racing Around...

Watch the racers. They will show you quite clearly
how to Ski with control when conditions are proving
challenging to handle for a lot of recreational skiers.
Their starting point is tuned edges. You should be able
to see that they retain a low, compact stance with
pronounced angulation and a quite noticeably forward
upper body lean, as well as a forward extentension of
hand position. The combination allows for a very nimble,
agile, framework for quick reactions to surface variables.
These are all desirable attributes for recreational skiers
to emulate for exactly the same benefits.

Weather Notes:

At least it’s not foggy out there, so the snow-cloud and
airborne particles that have presented vision challenges
are gone, for the moment anyway, so that’ already a big
utility benefit.

Otherwise, as far as the 2 week outlook, at this stage, there’s
a very consistent Sub-Zero C outlook that not only shows
forecast natural snow, but should be an opportunity for
incremental refinements in Groomed trails on a day-by-day
basis.

Conditions Notes:

At First Tracks there are basically 50% of the total expected
trail openings available for today. Obviously then, the recent
weather has generated very complicated conditions for Mountain
Crews to deal with and we urge all Tremblant Guests to be patient
while they sort things out.

The priorities are safety, followed by maximization of Open
terrain, so the Ski Patrol will be very focused on evaluating
all the progressively opening trails so they can remove the
ropes as soon as possible.

The important thing to note in this Apres Ski Summit Web Cam POV
is the Snow in the trees which is indicative of the Post-Thermal
snowfall accumulation which will enhance the blended final
grooming quality.

Page under all-day, evolutionary construction
and additions on an evolutionary basis as
changing weather and trail status affect
Mountain Operations. The powerful forces
of Mother Nature are at work and we urge
all Tremblant Guests to be patient as Mountain
Crews work to ensure safe openings throughout
the course of the day.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
