This is exactly what we like to see at 6:10 A.M.
as the Night-Shift ends up with Mountain Crews
putting the finishing touches on the miles and miles
of Corduroy everyone will be enjoying today.

We think what you will find today are 3 principle
surface qualities of traction, smoothness and speed
as summarized with this recent Telemark file shot
below, taken on Versant Nord, the North Side, trail # 78,
Fuddle Duddle, Bas, Lower, at it's intersection with
trail # 80, Windigo.

What you see above should be expanding over the
entire array of Open, Groomed terrain, with longer
daily durability as the repeated 24hr. Sub-Zero’s
allow the grooming process to render finer and
finer particle sizes with every Night-Shift.

This should be a big asset for Intermediates and
Beginners because with this increase in soft surface
consistency comes a much greater degree of “Forgiveness”,
as defined by both the ease with which control moves can
be exerted without fear of catching an edge, or momentary
loss of grip, due to icy or slick bits that are becoming smaller
and smaller.

Any already received, or immediately expected natural snowfall
is going to simply accelerate the user friendly performance
over a wider square area and we think the proof that you are
already seeing all of these things is evident in the overnight jump
up in the Open Trails list to 71 from the previous 61. As far as we’re
concerned, these are all components of “Things are Headed in the
right direction”.

Weather Notes:

A Super-Easy day with very light winds and not too cool,
this forecast is not only good for today, but it is also one
more step in a sequence of 24hr. Sub-Zero C daily cycles
that facilitate steady, upward, surface qualities that should
do nothing but get better for the foreseeable future.

If it occurs to the full extent of the potential indicated,
this is a problem we’ll be very happy to deal with...

Conditions Notes:

Notwithstanding the potential of the new overnight snowfall:

Regarding the Groomed Open Terrain:

As well optimized as things are now for the mix of weather
that has occurred, there are still some areas of natural
hazard that warrant caution in initial explorations of
particularly Black challenge terrain where steep pitches
below crests may exhibit slick or icy bits. During the course
of a day’s traffic traversing these zones, the square area
may increase, so it’s important to be observant, identify
patterns that may be common, and always default to
reduced speed when navigating those zones. These zones
may also be generated by wind, and relative to the facing
directional exposure.

The vast majority of the Blue, and virtually all of
the Green terrain should be at very high levels
of superbly finished, mogul resistant, all day
durability.

Regarding the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste,
and Un-Groomed Open Terrain:

Natural hazards exist at variable degrees and
appropriate care with navigation is recommended.
Do not assume. Trail conditions can vary over
individual descent paths and may not be the
same as what you can see from the entrance.
Risk avoidance is directly related to speed and
reaction times. For best results, make a cautious
first runs, and your exhibition/trick runs, the second.

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
