17cm’s is a large single snowfall event.

Due to the strong Northerly winds that delivered the
new snow there will be considerable drift-in benefits
to Lee-side topographical contours where there may
be significant back-fill accumulations above the Official
total.

An example of Lee-Side Drift-in may be the left descending
side of Duncan as seen above, or another example of Lee-Side
Drift-in may be the descending right side of Versant Soleil Trail
# 41, Toboggan. What we think you’ll find is an obvious wind
sheltered fill-in where calmer zones below contours or beside
the trees allowed the snow to settle.

Conversely, there will be frontally facing wide open
terrain where winds prevented accumulations, however
the temperature throughout the event was low enough
below Zero C, that there should not be much icy formation.

The temps are rising during the day so Groomed trails
should be easy from first tracks to last run. There may be
some noticeable thickness in the zones of heavier accumulations
due to the fact that it can take a couple of days to achieve
ideal compaction where depths are over 10cm’s

In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste, and Un-Groomed,
especially where Lee-side drifting occurred...

WAHOO!!! POWDER DAY!!!!

Weather Notes:

The Snowfall Ain’t Over Yet...

Thank goodness it’s a Ski Resort because there’s more snow forecast.
The totals are yet to be seen, however with continued stronger wind
factors, we think there will be ongoing drifting as a primary characteristic
of the final outcome.

The driving is likely to be very messy, but that’s a wonderful
problem to have if you’re on the way. Allow at least a half
extra regional commute times and for safety’s sake, be
patient while driving and allow for unforeseen delays from
both traffic and weather.

Conditions Notes:

If you are an Intermediate or Beginner, matching rated
trail challenge with actual skills is critical. There can be
lingering thickness in any groomed terrain when the
snowfall is over 10cm’s, so the fact that there are
wind exposed zones may actually favour Beginners
if those groomed surfaces are firmer, with less thickness
that can potentially catch edges or make control moves
more difficult.

Beginners And Intermediates: Do not follow your Expert
friends today and for the next two days...

If you are an Expert and you brought your Intermediate
or Beginner friends, it is critical you act in their best interests
and either take them to terrain that matches their actual Skill
sets, or... point hem in the right direction before you abandon
them to explore any Black Diamond’s, or the Hors Piste.

Experts: Avoid bringing Beginner and Intermediate friends today
and for the next two days, unless you are going to responsibly
support them with either personal, or pre-arranged guidance
that will insure their safety, as per above.

This is exactly how you should find yourself at Tremblant today...

You should not really even be reading this at all, because
you’re behind the wheel, with your vehicle pointed towards Tremblant...

If you live in Ottawa, Hawksbury, Cornwall, etc.,
call in sick immediately, you need to leave now.

If you live in Burlington Vt., TURN NORTH...
rain and freezing rain warnings throughout New England,
but SNOWING Like Crazy At Tremblant.

they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
