99(*) Open Trails on all 4 Sectors at #Tremblant.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Very Early 4:08 A.M. “Heads Up”, Cold Weather Notice to
“Bundle Up”.
This is a legitimately cool enough morning to warrant notice,
especially for kids.
Notwithstanding the early morning forecast Summit temps @ -24C,
the Wind Chill values with the mid-morning forecast wind speed
could be as low as -40C.
Do not put kids on the Mountain for extended time periods
or in lessons if their clothing is not sufficient to keep them
warm under the complete thermal load, not just the ambient.
Additionally, you must remember that forward motion, i.e.,
“Skiing down the hill” generates facing wind-speed that
needs to be taken into account too.
Safety First.
Weather Notes:
Due to the combination of regional atmospheric circumstances,
@ 4:08 A.M., we feel there is some probability that Mother nature could
take the Low Temp down to well below the forecast. We would be very
happy to be wrong on that, but parents should verify actual Mountain
conditions before assuming anything about dressing the kids.
Important Repeat From Above:
Notwithstanding the early morning forecast Summit temps @ -24C,
the Wind Chill values with the mid-morning forecast wind speed
could be as low as -40C.
The potential for early morning dips below forecast frequently increases
with calm winds. If you review the left hand chart below, it shows the
24 hour temp cycles for the Summit and you can see the overnight
low points for the next 3 days indicate similar to this morning, but...
when you look at the wind speed on the bottom of the graph, it
shows very low winds, so that sub-forecast could happen there as well.
