102/102(*) Open Trails on 100% #Tremblant.

This Is Why You Choose Tremblant.

The Easiest Route To “Winter"!

When it comes to real, genuine, 100% “Winter”,
Tremblant’s northerly latitude statistically delivers
the real deal across the span of the season more often
and with higher sustained quality because it gets less heat.

We love it, and today marks the first magic 100% Open
of the 2018/19 Season with the Progressive Opening
of Versant Soleil, Trail # 95, Algonquin.

They have been working on it for about a week and
it has been showing snowmaking icons throughout.
Combined with the grooming icon, we’re hoping the
result should reflect the quality of this trails design
and construction that makes it one of the most spectacular
Green descents in Eastern North America.

Below are 2 Algonquin file shots from previous winters that
we really like because they show the scale of Algonquins
width and the gentle descent angle that make it so easy for
Beginners.

But wait, there’s more! Algonquin offers all Skill Levels
the opportunity to optimize the nuances of edge control
for exactly the same reasons. One way we like to express
that is: “Any Sailor can go fast in a big wind, but it takes real,
and advanced sailing skills to go fast in a light wind.” This Sailing
analogy is directly applicable to Intermediate and Expert Skiers
too, because to either generate or maintain speed on a gentle
descent requires a highly refined ability to utilize and control
edge contact throughout sequential turning efforts. Those skills
can be best developed on a slope of this type and length.

At roughly 5Km’s, Algonquin certainly offers the length to turn
your Expert quad muscles into jello if you carve the entire descent
at Slalom radius, regardless of your speed, perhaps even more so
with a lower speed. Think of that exercise as slowly doing 250 reps
of dynamic leg presses at the gym, in one shot. It’s fantastic!

When Algonquin is well covered and groomed, it can be
an excellent workout, excellent practice terrain and excellent
cruising all at once, and to all Skill Levels.

As a total and complete bonus, the scenery is gorgeous.

Please Note: Algonquin is opened in a variety of ways that
vary greatly from “Au Natural” to “Groomed”, but there’s no
doubt that when opened “Groomed”(as is indicated today),
it’s potential is immediately elevated to greatness, so we
very much look forward to reporting further on that at the
beginning of this week. The possibility exists that there may
be variable degrees of it’s width that are groomed at this
very early stage. Be aware of, and obey any signs, if there
are hand posted trail conditions warnings or advisories put
in place by the Ski Patrol.

Weather Notes:

The deep cold of yesterday is gone.

Not only is today much easier to function in, but looking
forward, there is only more very solid “Winter" forecast and
we are thrilled to see the so-far absence of any sort of
thaw events. We call this a “Pure Winter” forecast where
zero thermal heat interrupts surface quality continuity.
Any and every day you can get here should be excellent.

Conditions Notes:

Any day the mountain is fully open, you will find
an abundance of excellence within each and every
level of skill rated terrain.

It’s still important to match actual skills with your
terrain selection on initial descents to verify safety,
however, with this much snow, the multi-day stability
of Sub-Zero temp’s, plus all the Night-Shift grooming
cycles, there should be a high degree of “Forgiveness”
in the surfaces. Therefore, if you’re a confident Beginner
or Intermediate, these are conditions that you may find
easier to work into higher personal challenge levels on.

The bottom line is that at 100% Open,
plus 100% Winter Forecast, you really
want to be up North at Tremblant as
soon, and as often as possible.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
