Absolutely one of the top 5 Groomed, Front-Side, Carving Days
of the Season, so-far.

We estimate there was enough lateral grip and speed to make
turning energy up to, if not in excess of, 1G.

Misc. Weather Forecast Notes:

Some people are freaking out over some rain icons
in the forecast for Thursday.

Don’t...

At least not if the Versant Sud, South Side, daytime
high remains at +2 C, because with the typical
Mountain Elevation Differential at -4 C, there is
significant probability that any precipitation would
be snow on the upper Versant Sud, South, Summit,
and Versant Nord, North Side.”If, If, If...."

Also... It’s too far out to predict, this weather model
could flip-flop either way, but the majority of times
in winter we seem to get colder.

There is also a freezing rain warning for tomorrow,
however the dimensions and track/path of that system
are not completely defined, and the likelihood is that
most of that event will be closer to Montreal and the river?

Weather Notes:

In order to put today into context, it is necessary to
consider the recent pattern of the rise and fall of
the Polar Vortex as its southern most edge has
advanced and receded multiple times. Today, it
recedes towards the North, and we should be
entering into a substantially warmer series of days.

Not only will things begin to seem much warmer with a forecast
18 C rise in temp’s by at about noon today, but look at the rest
of the work-week below, the prospects are for comparatively
very easy temp’s and a big whack of natural snowfall!

We could actually have an outstanding Powder Day or
two, from Wed., through to Thurs., depending on the
actual quantity and time-frame of the active snowfall.

Conditions Notes:

What we hope we will experience today is the return of
natural speed and glide in the groomed snow surfaces by
means of what generally happens with rising temp’s within
the current Sub-Zero C range.

Pay close attention to the Groomed Icons on the list
below. As the temps rise, we think these freshly groomed
trails are going to hold the most potential for very rapid
increases of speed and glide performance that has been
diminished for the past couple or three days with the higher
relative friction of the super-cool snow.

In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste, Un-Groomed, it’s
a bit of a wild card until we can get out and see first hand
how the snow-pack reacts. The fact is, there’s just so
much recent snowfall that whatever changes may happen,
should simply be variations of “Great” to begin with.

Please Note: Versant Soleil and Duncan Quad Chairlift
are on “Progressive”, i.e., gradual, Opening this morning
which is a standard safety protocol for cold weather.
