In The Original Post Below, We Wrote:

When You See Versant Nord, North Side Trail #66 Le Tunnel
on the Groomed List for the first time in the season, you KNOW
there’s a new level of refinement that can only come from
Tons of Great Winter Snow!

Not to mention that it’s a wonderfully, beautifully, Expert easy,
pure fall-line, spectacularly scenic, naturally rhythmic descent
of near-perfect pitch to width ratio for Old School, super-fun,
tight radius, Slalom style turns.

Le Tunnel is not a popular trail with “Mainstream” recreational
Skiers/Boarders. For decades it has typically been known a
mogul run that could chew up your quads and turn them into
jello. It was rarely, if ever, groomed. With the advent of the
“Super-Season” snowfall accumulations in the past, recent
seasons, suddenly we found Le Tunnel groomed, and with that
development, in our eyes, it immediately jumped into a leading
indicator of the ultimate seasonal refinement within not only
the Versant Nord, North Side Lowell Thomas Sector, but for the
whole Mountain.

Basically... When there’s enough snow to groom Le Tunnel, you
can generally count on all of Tremblant being excellent. It does
not have any snowmaking support, it relies purely on natural snowfall,
so the attainment of sufficient accumulation to groom it means that
where the same snowfall is integrated with snowmaking on all the
“Mainstream” trails, they are all fabulous.

More on the significance of Le Tunnel tomorrow morning.

Speaking of “Fabulous”, the above is just one sample of the fabulous
scenery at Tremblant today. The beauty that came with the brief
appearance of the sun and the fresh snow in the trees is self evident
in this shot taken from the Expo Quad as it rises over the final crest
on the way up.

Below: The Summit was mostly snowy and overcast, but there
were moments of transient brightness and you could occasionally
see glimpses of blue sky peeking through the thinner edges of cloud.

Conditions Today Were Excellent... literally Summit-To Base,
wall-to-wall over all the Open terrain.

Tomorrow is your chance to see the very best Freestyle
competitors on Planet Earth, right here at Tremblant!
Of course, it sure helps Team Canada is a world leader!

Cool and Sunny for tomorrow, and the best part, Low Wind.
Conditions should be a grooming cycle step up from today,
so “Great” turns into “Even Greater” as we escalate up the
scale of mature seasonal development.

77(*) Open Trails On Versant Sud, South and Versant Nord, North Sectors at #Tremblant .

There Is Excellent News Within The Current Weather Drama.(**)

Froze or not, there are 12cm’s of Fresh Snow.

And on top of that, despite what you might have heard about
“Rainy” or “Wet” or any other yesterday weather anomalies,
there were sectors of Tremblant that got nothing but snow,
and were dry all day. Here is a sample from one of them:

Weather Notes:

Back To Winter.

Firstly, when the forecast was for the Base Levels to get
a couple of degrees of “Plus”, above zero C yesterday, we
expressed hope that the typical Elevation Differential of -4 C
would be a positive factor for Mountain conditions, and that
did happen. The top 2 pic’s here clearly show snow in the trees
that have not seen a speck of heat or rain.

What this forecast below shows is that the next 2 weeks are
going to be all winter as well, so we are calling for an escalating
level of Trail quality due to the stability of Sub-Zero C’s that
will support continued daily refinement.

Conditions Notes:

What was a bit warm yesterday is now really well frozen,
however the warmth we speak of is relative, so it does not
necessarily mean wet. For sure, some of the Base Levels saw
rainy periods in the morning, but the afternoon was completely
dry, cooled off, and by last run, showed very little, in some
cases, no effects at all. Mid to upper portions of the Mountain
were snowy and dry all day, albeit under foggy cloud. Fortunately,
precipitation typically falls below the cloud, not in the cloud, so
as foggy as it was, there was not a speck of moisture in the air
at the Summit and the snow was all winter, all day.

That should be carried forward to today, but with 2 very important
differences which are, firstly, the HUGE Grooming operation currently
under way.

We believe that what you will see and experience over the next day
is what we call “The Quickness Of Quality” as Mountain Op’s conducts
what we understand is going to be a total 36 Hour, around the clock,
Grooming Marathon. We think that as that grooming op comes to
a conclusion, you may be hard-pressed to tell there was much of a
warm influence at all.

The Second Important Difference For Today:
In the upper sectors, what we think you will find with the overnight
low temp on the Mountain of around -17 C, is “Cryogenic Shocked”
snow, that in effect, has been “Freeze Dried” like instant coffee.

Mother Nature can render all the humidity out in a handful of
overnight hours with a shot of cool, leaving us with a light, dry,
crisp, all-winter snow quality, and that is what we hope to find.

On Top Of That...

It’s Snowing Vigorously At Tremblant Right Now.

What this means is that there is fabulous potential for escalating
“Best Of” not only within the Groomed, but as the snow falls as
thickly as it is right now, within the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste,
and Un-Groomed as well.
(#)

We’ll get back to you as soon as we can to confirm that.

(#)The Sous Bois, Glades actually have a few “Wild Cards” due
to a crust that formed in some areas, so those zones may take
a while longer to sort out, but no doubt, new snow certainly takes
all of that in the right direction.

Bottom Line (a) on Conditions Today:

We think today may well be a Super-Surprise, Super-Excellent
Screaming-Great, All-Winter Day.

Please Note: In our opinion, the Open Trail Count has nothing to
do with the potential excellence in what is open. The Open Trail
Count is strategic resource management designed to optimize
conditions as quickly as possible over as much square area
as possible. All Tremblant Guests will benefit from this huge
undertaking, and we are most appreciative of the tremendous
efforts of Mountain Op’s!!!

Bottom Line(s) (b) on Conditions Today:

(**)"There Is Excellent News Within The Current Weather Drama."

When You See Versant Nord, North Side Trail #66 Le Tunnel
on the Groomed List for the first time in the season, you KNOW
there’s a new level of refinement that can only come from
Tons of Great Winter Snow!
