Big Snow At Tremblant... AGAIN!!!!

Everywhere you looked, it was snowing at Tremblant today.

There was variation in the density and volume of snow falling
throughout the day. There were periods of light snow, then
there were periods of heavy snow to almost White-out,
or Squall levels, and everything in-between.

There was sufficient snowfall to benefit the entire Mountain, even
to the point that some of the very best Green Terrain in North America,
Versant Sud, South Side Trail # 6, Nansen Bas, Lower, had some
“Thickness” building by the end of the day.

Mountain Op’s was ready and waiting for their version of “Apres Ski”,
when they get to fire up all the heavy duty gear like the Pinroth “Bison”
Groomer fleet that uses the machines shown above to render out all
that great Corduroy Snow you’re expecting tomorrow morning.

With this much new snow, Tomorrow can’t be anything other
than “Excellent” across all categories and skill levels of Open
Terrain!

All This, Plus More Snow...

Consistent, Reliable, Dependable, Complete Coverage.

Any experienced Skier/Boarder is going to be able to
look at the above picture and instantly realize the
potential for an excellent day at Tremblant when the
Entire Groomed Trail Network is at this universal level
of performance capability.

The shot above was from Johannsen at the Versant Sud,
South Side Resort Base, but there was literally no difference
what-so-ever in any of the Groomed terrain yesterday, from
Summit-to-base and Wall-to-wall. We fully expect that to be
exactly the same today and for at least the next 2 weeks,
with one exception...

Believe it or not... the one exception is that there should be
an incremental escalation of “Excellent” to higher levels of
refinement almost every single day with more grooming,
snow and the net refinement that is the product of daily
maintenance here at Tremblant.

This time period in front of us now could be the sweetest part
of the whole season.

In The Mean-Time, Over on Versant Nord, The North Side...

Here are a couple of samples from the new
Lowell Thomas High Speed Quad.

Cool, or not... Windy, or not...

It’s Looked Like This For Almost A Week!

As you can imagine, photography has been
a challenge in these cool, snowy conditions,
but that’s a typical occupational hazard when
what’s great for skiing is not so great for pic’s.

No doubt about the accuracy of the experience
though, Skiing in white-out conditions offers
it’s own unique feel and everyone lucky enough
to brave the weather has been thrilled with the
performance.

All This, Plus More Snow... ???

Action Alert:
STOP READING... LEAVE FOR TREMBLANT NOW.

Weather Notes:

Warmer and Snowier are the good parts.
The windy bit is more of a wild card though,
because Tremblant states that at the forecasted
velocities and direction, they could cause Lift Systems
safety issues. On the flip side, if there’s a benefit to the
windy component, it’s in the potential for significant
snow drifting that could generate Lee-Side back-fill
deposits of deep snow that could be double or more
than the Official accumulation totals.

The indicated South-East wind direction means it will
be crossing the Summit from over Duncan, towards McCulloch,
at least to begin with. Mid-day should see a swing to the direct
East, so when that happens it will cross from over the Lowell
Thomas peak, towards the Gondola.

If you stand in front of the Grand Manitou looking toward
the front door side, the most drift-in potential should be
on your right hand side of the whole Mountain.

With the wind almost directly at your back, at least the
rides up the Duncan, Expo and Lowell T. Quads should be
really easy at these relatively mild temp’s.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
