2/22/19 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Apres Ski, Midnight Edit @12:05 A.M.

Every Positive Expectation We Had For Today Became Reality.

Very, Very Fine day, and considering we are more than half way
through the season, we may be reaching some of the top levels
we’ll see.

The increase in the trail density(common to all groomed)
is going to be completely obvious to you if you scroll back to
yesterday’s Apres Ski where there’s a pic.of yesterdays “Before”,
to this “After” , for today, posted here below.

Grip and Traction were fantastic across all 4 sectors of Tremblant.
You could play with the Laws of Physics using solid carving technique
with complete sense of security.

Loads of Race Training going on, and we could not imagine
much more ideal conditions. All technical race coaching is
so easy to demo when things are this good... “Reliable”,
with a capital “R”!

A few isolated Icy bits where wind or traffic exposed,
but they are very small, and on crests or just below
crests on steeper pitches.

Overwhelmingly Positive Guest Feedback at “Best Of” Seasonal references.

Tomorrow... Similar, maybe even a bit softer, but continued very fine
“Best Of” Conditions!

---------------- 7:59 A.M. Orig. Post ---------------------

102/102(*) Open Trails On The More Snow’d Slopes At #Tremblant .

210 cm’s, almost 7 feet of Natural Snow in the last month,
literally, half an average season’s worth!
(**)

That gives us a seasonal-to-date accumulation of 464 cm’s, 28 of which
have come in the last 3 days. Together with the Night-Shift
Grooming efforts, today could offer some "Best Of” conditions
on all categories of Open terrain.

(**) 21 year snowfall accumulation average is 418cm’s X .5 = 209cm's

The highlight within the groomed terrain should be
the overall reduction in surface softness that comes
with compaction. If that takes place to the degree we
think it will, surfaces will be less likely to generate
moguls from traffic, plus there will be the possibility of
a noticeable increase in the inherent speed/glide properties
of those higher density top layers.

Above and Below:
As Usual... Super Snowy conditions that are great for the quality
of Skiing can often be hostile for photography, but during a lull in
the falling snow, we got these two action shots on Beauchemin Bas,
lower, at Last Run. If nothing else, they show a lot of the current
performance dynamic at Tremblant and on a very grey day, they
certainly are colourful!

Conditions Notes:

In the Groomed:

With This Much Snow... Generally superb, however, because
so much has come so quickly, there is still room for refined
potential as density increases with consecutive grooming
cycles. There is a variable degree of softness that can result
in moguls forming, but each day of grooming between the
snow events has firmer surfaces, that is until the next snow
event. The challenge for Mountain Op’s has been that the
snow events are so big, and so close together.

In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste, and Un-Groomed:

Wow, You don’t need to be a “Rocket Scientist”
to Understand the significance of...

210 cm’s, almost 7 feet of Natural Snow in the last month,
literally, half an average season’s worth!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
