Today is...

Instant “Spring”!

Well, at least it’s warm outside. No doubt “Damp” though.

When it looks like this at “First Tracks”:

"For Best Results”... You may want to look like this:

This is one of our standard Goto pic’s for this type
of weather. We recommend every serious Skier
should have a Descente Poncho in their kit.
You will “Laugh” at rainy days, be very dry, and
actually enjoy some of the very best technical skiing
of the season.

As we note below, it is possible that if the Summit
remains low-cloud covered, the Mountain may get either
very little, or not get any rain at all because precipitation
usually falls below cloud, not in cloud.

See our annotated Summit Weather Feature below for
additional utility notes applicable to today.

We’re actually very lucky that we’ve had such a long
stretch of solid Sub-Zero C days. There will be some
who will say there were some cold mornings along the way,
but no one who was here could possibly deny the superb
Skiing by any standards of quality when all you have is
pure, virtually ice-free ski conditions, for weeks and weeks
on end.

If you love “Winter” we have just come through the heart
of an exceptional one, and today, even though most folks
will not recognize it, we get all the benefits in the form
of retained Super-Cool frost in the trail surface substrates.
The frost is working from the ground up to help keep top layer
surfaces smooth and fast. Additionally, the frost acts as a
barrier preventing water penetration and allowing much of
it to be quickly shed off the Mountain into nearby streams
and rivers.

This warm/wet event is forecast to be around 48 hours in duration
so we do not anticipate any significant effect on coverage. It started
yesterday, and we should be back into Sub-Zero C territory in less
than 24 hours.

Conditions Notes:

Today: Super-Shred Easy!

Tomorrow: The temps are dropping back below zero C, so what is
wet and soft today is going to be froze tomorrow, however...
there’s snow in the forecast and Mountain crews will have worked
right through the night and from the Green trails up, so there will
be very good surfaces, but obviously, there will be icy bits.

Due to the Snowfall predicted with the temp drop, there could
be wide ranging positive benefit. We’ll need to see how much
anyhow fast it comes to be more precise with conditions forecasting
though, so to be on the conservative side, bring them sharp edges
anyway.

It is likely that the Sous Bois, Hors Piste, Glades and Un-Groomed
may be restricted for a while. Depending on the amount of natural
snow that falls tomorrow, timing in those zones could be directly effected.

Please Note: Zones of previous thinner coverage such as
wind exposed crests or very steep pitches may exhibit some
natural hazards but they should be very small in square area,
easy to pass around and also in recognizable patterns.

Watch for, and observe hourly evolving conditions for change
in challenge due to any weather induced scenario’s that
represent commonly occurring phenomenon. Spring snow
can develop thickness during Open Hours, so if you brought
any of your Beginner friends, guide them to the safest terrain.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
