This is a fairly detailed look at what we did
for most of the day.

It had all the feel of February in the temperatures
but all the brightness of the April sun high in the sky.

But More Importantly(?)...

It had all the feel of February in the groomed trail
surfaces, the cool feel of frosty speed under skis
surgically carving razor arch'd turns. A most excellent day.

There was literally something for everyone, and that something
was easy to find, easy to work with and easy to perform on for
all skill levels. In a sense it was a forgiving day for exploring
new challenges. There was just the right amount of new snow
over this base that is so solidly, seamlessly smooth, that it sort
of feels like much of the Mountain is paved with velvet. In that way,
many trails of mixed challenge almost seemed to blend into one another.
Really quite remarkable.

It Snowed, it was cloudy, it was sunny, it was warmer in the sun,
but still cool in the breeze... and it was all of these things at once.

The overwhelming impression of the entire day
was that it was a most beautiful February 28, on April 1.

Tomorrow... From -5 C, rising to +5 C, all during Open Hours.
Primarily Sunny, with cloudy bits, so much like today except
ending up warmer. One good part, less wind, and what there
is of it, is from the South, so crossing the Summit from Soleil
towards Nansen.

A real easy April Spring, firm morning, soft afternoon.

100% coverage continues as a basic element of conditions.

92(*) Open Trails on Sud, South, Nord, North and Soleil Sectors At #Tremblant .

(We are re-running this one from Friday because it was
the last day that was as Sunny as today is, and we really
like this theme for today as an indicator of surface refinement
we expect you’ll find throughout the groomed trail array.)

You Look Good When You Get The Tremblant Blues.(#)

(#) The main Top-To-Bottom Versant Sud, South, Versant Nord, North
boulevards are both “Blues”, Beauvallon, Trail # 8, and Beauchemin, Trail # 71.
(Actually, Beauchemin on Versant Nord, the North Side, is divided into a
Green rating for it’s lower portion, but for the sake of the point we’re trying
to make, we’ll count it all as one because of the similarities in both upper and
lower rolling topographical pitches and plateaus.)

Here is a Nord, North, Beauchemin sample from yesterday.
Wide and Smooth are totally obvious.

These two “Blue” rated trails are not only the biggest “Blue’s” at Tremblant,
but they are “Go To” examples of the benefits of sequential days of grooming
in a 24 hour Sub-Zero C environment that make them better on a daily escalating
scale following any thermal event like Saturday. In the old days of the late 20th
Century, it could take either up to a week, or a sudden blizzard to recover
smoothness, but now, the recovery is immediately evident overnight, as yesterday
saw, and on day 2, that’s today, these trails should almost exist as if nothing happened
at all. We think they could be close to flawless.

This is a Sud, South, Beauvallon example from last Friday. If you
look closely, you’ll see the person from the top “Blues” pic. in this
Tremblant Ski School Group, just to the left of the Instructor in red.
Once again, smooth and wide are obvious.

Getting onto these Tremblant “Blues” with their lengths at over 4 Kilometres,
and their widths greater than an an Interstate Highway, can facilitate the
very rapid advancement of any confident Intermediate, or very confident
Beginner. This is due to the ability to sustain a rhythmic skills development
pattern over such a long and uninterrupted descent line that you will never
ever find at the local Ski hill where you have to stop every 2 minutes to get
back on a lift. This benefit in the length of unbroken practice can not be overstated.

Otherwise...

We are hoping to get back to Versant Nord, North Side
“Devils River”, Trail #57 to observe it’s “Day 2” status.
Here below is a yesterday sample showing it well groomed, but
still a little rough around the edges. It is on the list as
groomed this morning, so we’ll see how it may have changed
or evolved. (Sorry for the burned up, turned up image here, but
the overcast foggy light there had to be drastically modified to
show snow surface detail.)

Conditions Notes:

The Calendar Says “April”...

But The Conditions Say “Fullness Of February”!!!

PLUS... It Snowed Again Last Night!

It’s no joke or any sort of “April Fools” gig, the conditions
at Tremblant this morning start out at -14 C at the Summit,
with 100% Winter Coverage and Refined Quality, and another
5 cm’s of fresh snow. That's everything that would be absolutely
typical of any end of February. The only real hints of April are the
height of the very bright sun in the sky and by the end of the day,
the projected -1C will seem hot if you're in any direct solar rays.

We think its’ going to be a potentially extraordinary day
with the possibilities for “Best Of” trail conditions within
the groomed inventory.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
