The “Shred” performance of the top layers is enhanced by
their relatively shallow depths due to underlaying frost which
is now acting extremely effectively as a stored refrigerant.

We theorize it will take weeks and weeks, far beyond the end
of this season to dissipate that frost, so it should be very easy
to keep these great conditions right through to the Official
closing date of April 22, 2019.

It’s a limited time Mother Nature offer...???

But for at least Today,
You Can Still Surround Yourself With Winter!

The Mountains Elevations have remained considerably cooler
than base levels. That will not mean so much when the temps
begin to rise towards double digit C values, i.e., towards 10C and up,
but so far, we’ve had the great good fortune to have this obvious
cool you can see below, all day, up on Tremblant’s slopes.

Apres Ski weather Notes...

This is where things start to get complicated because
this might or might not happen. Tremblant is “On The Line”
between a huge frontal line that is most likely going to
produce vast amounts of snow on one side(east), and rain
on the other side(west).

Even though it’s only an anecdotal observation,
what we’ve seen on a routine basis is that the actual
temperatures are typically cooler than forecast.
Of course...#1, this could be one time we’re wrong
and it ends up warmer, but... if the “Cooler” trend
did occur, then there are temperature tipping points
at anywhere near Zero C(especially at Mountain elevations
that are normally as much as -4 C lower), that could produce
either all snow or a big bunch of freezing rain, as opposed
to just rain. Of Course... #2, on the “Desirable” scale,
all snow is ideal, but on the “less consequential” scale
the main thing about freezing rain is that it is NOT erosive.
Freezing rain is an inconvenience for everyone, but in
the Groomed inventory, freezing rain just gets chewed-up,
and ground-up by very powerful machines, and the next
morning the integrated product can almost be as if we had
snowfall of a course granular nature, and it Ski’s fine.
The Sous Bois can be more dramatically effected if there’s
a really thick crust, but at least we have the groomed trail
network preserved to live for future spring days. The bottom
line here is that nobody other than the folks who like Golf more
than Skiing, want rain that can be erosive to degrees
directly proportional to the volume.

Above:
One factor related to our anecdotal temp. observations
is the daily variability in the current Jet Stream path
that causes small dips/rises in the leading southerly edge
that can unpredictably go either way.

Above and Below:

When you combine that with the “On The Line” scenario
indicated by the potential of the two graphics below, you can
see there is a big bunch of Tipping Point “Wild Cards” that
could take our situation here at Tremblant in opposite terms
of desirability for a Ski Resort.

Conditions Notes:

Super Fine Spring Day With Overtones Of Winter.

Depending on which way the weather goes, it may be a one
day thing, but today should actually a very fine day with
excellent “Shred” performance in shallow soft top layers
that still have remarkably effective frost support from
the solid base underneath.

There may be more depth in softness at base levels, but that will
be of little consequence to the overall performance which we think
will centre around great traction in all categories of groomed,
un-groomed and Sous Bois.

Please Note: Tech issues causing delays.
Sorry about that, however the summary is:

“Enjoy It While You Can!”, even if that means
just for today, because there’s a Train-Load of
“Wild Cards” coming down the Weather Tracks!

It could either be Big Snow, Big Rain or Big
Freezing Rain. We’d be overjoyed for the first,
crying for the second, and not even worried for
a moment about the third. Explanations as per
all above.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
