The snow you see above is all soft spring shredding snow
and the large particles simply fall apart on contact with
no sense of resistance what-so-ever.

The challenge with this “Last Run” pic above, was that the
camera is facing directly into the sun as we look straight up
the Duncan Summit Pitch, so the backlit contrast is extreme
in terms of getting frontal/shaded detail. Despite all that, the
performance here was exceptional and Duncan Haut, Upper,
as well as Duncan Bas, Lower were both candidates for the
best outright Ski quality of the day.

Below is a Up/Down 2 picture quick review of one example
of a Tremblant Gem du Jour. This is a trail that does not get
a lot of attention, however yesterday, there’s no doubt it
was a “Sweet Spot”, especially in the afternoon when its
naturally shaded orientation kept the surfaces not too soft
and just right for exciting high performance grip.

Trail # 73, Versant Nord, North Side, “La Traverse”.

First, the mid-point view up... Spectacular with the big Tremblant sky
overhead. The snow on this trail had just the right balance of softness
and firm traction to really permit thrilling side-to-side carving action
and it remained virtually mogul free all day.

Secondly, the view down which overlooks it’s lower
intersection with Beauchemin Haut, Upper(trail #71).
As long as you can scan left on the exit to confirm
safe conditions with no descending Beauchemin traffic,
coming out of La Traverse was like being shot out of a
rocket launcher! There was no sense of saturation at all,
and this is a prime example of terrain that skied “Winter”
all day long.

Yesterday we wrote about the “Select”, meaning individual
zones of terrain that for unique reasons such as, but not
limited to, location, snow drift-in, grooming and low traffic,
were exceptionally fine quality, and La Traverse was at or
near the top of that list. There were literally dozens more,
and all you had to do was explore responsibly to find as
many as you wanted to. Today should be very similar,
albeit with a warmer final outcome. For optimized utility,
Wax/Coat Bases for “Warm”.

Conditions Notes:

All You Need To Know...

From the overnight low of -4 C, to the forecast Brilliantly Sunny high of +11 C.

Any experienced Skier/Boarder is going to instantly
understand what this forecast means for conditions.

Act accordingly, but from a utility/functional standpoint,
Hydrophobic Wax or Coatings for Ski/Board bases
may be the very best thing you can have in order
to keep all day speed. Otherwise, afternoon surface
saturation due to thermal influence has shown to generate
considerable drag.

It is highly probable that this is a one day Mother Nature
sale on the quintessential Tremblant Spring Transitional day.

Enjoy it while you can as the implications for the following
days are not quite so sunny.

Speaking of “Sunny”... Big Bonus Today... Soleil Sector OPEN!!!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
