Back to Winter !

Grab it while you can !

Frankly, this weather forecast today looks a bit strange.

It will get up to about -9C, just around Noon and the actual
temperature this A.M. is -24C, but according to the weather
network, it was not supposed to get this cool. Additionally
strange is the long term outlook which shows another warm
"burp" in the temps.

This is a time when we really hope the weather forecast is Wrong.
It seems hard to imagine that Mother Nature could go between
such extremes, so let us keep our fingers crossed that the warm
crest in the temps is not too high.

In the mean time... Today will be fantastically sunny, a great
photo day!

Our open trail count is at 64 this A.M. as the Mountain crews work
to protect and recover our surfaces from the last warm session.

All lifts are open today, so far, and you will find the closed areas as
you explore, so the bright side here, is that at least you can sample
runs on the whole Mountain.

You can expect that there may be changes to the open trail count
either up or down as conditions require, so just pay attention to the
trail marks set up by the Ski Patrol.

Use caution today, as you explore, because the "Granular" surface we
have could cover slick spots, so the wise thing is to take runs at speeds
that you can quickly react to changing levels of "Grip".

Watch out around trail intersections where heavier traffic can result in
worn areas that may make braking difficult, and speed absolutely
needs to be controlled.

Conditions today were surprisingly forgiving. I was expecting the worst,
but was pleasantly surprised (perhaps helped by the gorgeous weather).
Definitely NOT a day for pushing the speed limits! Using the side of
the trails (Duncan and McCulloch, for instance) there was plenty of “powder"
- and by that I mean granular snow. Great for practising short radius turns.
Not my first choice for snow conditions but preferential to the ice in the
middle of the trails, which was pretty well disguised in places. However,
when the weather was as beautiful as it was today I'm not complaining
too much.

Thanks So Much for that Mala1979.

Your comments are Greatly Appreciated.

In the past I have commented on what I consider to be a fact,
that regardless of weather (which could always be "Better” in
one way or another), one can always find good Skiing or
Boarding somewhere at Tremblant.

With the variety of sides and elevations that Mother Nature
reacts to, there always seems to be a sector that "Comes Out
Ahead" in terms of Positive Conditions.

With that in mind, it is only necessary for the adventuresome
Boarder or Skier to explore the open terrain to find the best
conditions, or conditions that suit their skills and abilities best.

As a result, an experienced Tremblant Boarder or Skier will have
quite a bit of respect for the Mountain Support Crews that both
maintain and determine the open trails. They have an excellent
"feel" for the Mountain, which together with their experience,
provides us with the best possible surfaces.

Bottom line, and a point worth repeating...

Regardless of weather...

One can always find good Skiing or Boarding somewhere at Tremblant.
