Apres Ski Preview...
Here's a peek at what you missed at Tremblant today...
If you could have been here, but chose not to be, you made a critical error.
Absolutely impeccable fast carving nirvana on the chosen few.
Stunning Signature Tremblant Views.

Late Morning Update:
It's Official...
More on this later... but totally understandable....
-------------- 6:57 A.M. Orig. Post ---------------
18(*) Open Trails on the newly Re-freshed
and very White looking, South and North of Tremblant!
Here are two good reasons regional Tremblant Fans
should be "Burning Rubber" to get to Tremblant A.S.A.P.
La Crete, Summit to Beauvallon.
Sissy Schuss Haut, Upper, at "Last Run".
If we did not put anything else here, that should be enough, but here's
the detail anyway.
From our Apres Ski, yesterday...
"It is still too early to tell if this classic North Side
Orographic Snowfall is any kind of "Magic Bullet" yet
because it is "Forecast" to stop this eve. To be significant in
terms of additional "Open" capability would take a steady
continuation for practically speaking, all night, but even that
might not be withstanding the efforts of the Mountain Crews.
We are not sure how much they can get done, but certainly,
at about 3 CM's per hour up until "Last Run", every hour this
keeps up improves the odds.
Otherwise and so far, it's enough to make things look really "White",
improve existing "Good" to "Great", and damn near completely
take away "Icy".
Judging by the Official "Open Trails" list this morning, there was not
enough to re-open trails that the "Heat" of last week had taken away...
yet.
We say "Yet", as in "So Far", or "As of this moment", because we feel
that there may be a possibility that there was sufficient to restore
some terrain on a limited basis, but it may take Mountain Crews a
day to process it all to the point of usefulness.
The Above Statement Is A Pure Speculation Because We Have No
Confirmation Or Official Word.... however, ....
...being up for a while in the middle of the night, we were briefly
surfing and found at 3:00 A.M. that not only are the Web Cams back
on-line, but there is evidence of activity that at the least, suggests
the above speculative possibility.
Here is a sample...
Considering that the work being done in these Pic's
is clearly at, and even above, the North Base Turbo
SnowMaker, which is currently all "Closed" terrain....
A logical Question might be... Why dedicate equipment and time to
Groom areas that are not on today's "Open" list, i.e., the bottom
run-outs for Duncan and Expo, Lower?
One possible answer might be that you need to "work" the new snow
while it's fresh, even if you don't intend to use it until some point in
the future, like, "Tomorrow".
Therefore, We think there is a highly speculative chance we may
see some re-opened terrain for the weekend.
We Could Be Wrong.
Moving on to what we know for sure....
We had all the enjoyment and excellent, healthy exercise from
the privilege and benefit of this typical scene yesterday.
It snowed so hard we could not keep the camera lens clear for more than
a few moments. It was falling too fast. There were little gaps every once
in a while created by swirling wind patterns, but those were never for more
than a few meters or seconds at a time. 95% of the time, it was nothing less
than a "White Out", especially on P'tit Bonheur.
This just kept up hour after hour, all afternoon.
Riding Up Lowell Thomas... looking back over
the entrances to La Traverse and Rigodon.
On the South, this was occurring too, but only as far down as the
second bend in Nansen, right at about the top of the pitch. Below that
point the South did have the benefit of the previous night's snowfall
so it was vastly improved from that alone.
What this means right now is that the trails on the list below
will be in exceptional shape.

If you are a true Ski or Board freak and the season is never long
enough for you, even though the open terrain is limited to the
Official List above, it is all in extraordinary condition.
You only have a short while to get out for it.
We recommend that you do whatever you need to, but next November
is a long way off, and you can ski or board these fine conditions now.

Re: Official Winter Season Announcement from above.
As we reported above with the screenshot of the "Official"
Tremblant.ca Twitter announcement, the winter season
has been re-set to the original closing date of April 9th, 2012
due to the unanticipated and very extreme heat that the
entire East Coast of North America has been subjected to
over the last several weeks.
This Continental Jet Stream heat anomaly is going to force many
regional Ski Areas of lesser Latitude and/or elevation to close early,
so Tremblant Fans are lucky that our more northerly location will permit
continued operation.
Despite the revision due to these past weather factors, stat's wise,
we should see a return to more normal patterns of over-night
below freezing, together with more natural snow, as we've seen today,
that will maximize the quality of all the runs that can be kept open.
Back to today...
Regardless of the number of Open Trails, Tremblant was a pure Alpine
Winter Joy today. The Open terrain is in spectacular, high traction,
super carve condition and around every corner there was a unique Post
Card view.
It snowed all day, not as much as yesterday, but it may not be over yet,
so we're keeping fingers crossed for good luck there.
We found 3 minor icy prone areas of wind exposure, but with sharp edges,
easily traversed.
This season is far from over and there are a lot of excellent turns
to be made yet on the principle areas of deep, thick base here at
Tremblant, so there's every good reason to get out for a lot of very
fine Skiing and Boarding coming up. By next November's end, people
will be twice as pumped about half as much, why wait?
Highly stratified layers of atmospheric activity managed to
produce Sun, Snow, Cloud and Very Vigorous Winds, all at
the same time.
The North-West Wind was not particularly cold, but what it lacked in temps,
it made up for in velocity, at times, enough to push you around a bit.
The North Park jump line looked very well maintained however
user traffic was light.
Riding up Lowell Thomas presented spectacular contrasts between Tree's
Cloud, and Blue Sky.
There were times when the Summit Cloud Cover looked very
threatening and amazingly, cloud or not, there was snow flying
around all day.
Surfaces were fantastic and it was an excellent day for lessons
with very forgiving top layers that responded to all forms of
input very well.
Approaching the Expo Quad Base from either Fuddle-Duddle or
Beauchemin was a "Fast" trip. We think the general sector performance
characteristics were some of the best of the season, or very close
to it.
This point above just goes to show that even after a lot of "Odd"
weather, fantastic surface conditions can seem to magically appear
to the delight of all in attendance. Very fine recovery work by
Mountain Crews... Merci!
Below:
Evidently, there were some people, "Sampling" this sector and judging
by the tracks which were made by Telemark skis, we think it may have
been the Ski Patrol.
By end of day, the Suns energy was softening up the most exposed
surfaces.
Below: Beauvallon
Very, Very, fine conditions by any standard, even if the terrain
is reduced quite a bit by now.
With the last two days of fresh new snow, all the open trails have
made big steps ahead with quality, and.... it skis perfectly..
