Conditions 3/05/09

Looking for Spring Conditions?

Your getting Warmer!

Today, according to the weather network, will be the last winter
morning for a few days as Mother Nature is forecast to bring us
another warm spell that could last for 4 to 5 days or so.

Until then...

We have 77 Open Trails this morning with all sides and all lifts
fully operational and we should reach a very pleasant, easy to
handle -5C by mid-day.

The wind should be fairly light from the South, coming over the
Mountain from the Soleil Side toward the Summit and while there
is a possibility of cloud in the forecast for later, as long as the sun
stays out, you will find there is quite a bit of heat in it where you can
find direct rays to enjoy.

Today will be an improvement over yesterday, simply because as the
combination of the Sun's thermal energy and Traffic on the Mountain
"Work" the surfaces, those surfaces become more granular in content.
The more granular things become, the more grip we can find.

This is a natural progression in the recovery from the last warm spell
and it is assisted by all the efforts of the Mountain Grooming Crews
that spend each night going over the surfaces with the "Powder Maker”
attachments hooked up to the Packers.

The Web Cam Snap Shot below, courtesy of http://www.tremblant.ca,
clearly shows how well the Mountain Crews can make things for us each
morning. Of course the wise thing to do is for all of us to get out there
and enjoy it as soon as possible!

The quality of Grooming preparation is clear in this Summit panorama this morning. Today is going to be a Great Day!

You will still need to be careful with speed around trail intersections and
in high traffic areas because there may be slick spots underneath that will
show up as we go through the day, so keep safety in mind as you rip around
the Mountain. Don't forget to explore all the open terrain. You will
find that there will be some surprisingly great skiing and boarding in the
nooks and crannies of Tremblant today.
