Trail # 70 Gagnon, North Side.

Post by T360 »

Gagnon originates at the top of the Expo Quad Chair off-load
zone. As you exit the Expo Chair, turning right, Gagnon runs
directly down to the base loading zone of the Lowell Thomas
triple chair.

Gagnon would be considered by most to be a connector run from
the Expo Summit to the Lowell Thomas Triple Chair, the Edge sector
or Beauchemin Bas or Lower.

In this shot you can see Gagnon running diagonally from
the top of the Expo Quad Chair off-load zone, down to the
base loading zone of the Lowell Thomas triple chair. The run
with the "S" shape that runs in and out of Gagnon to its
mid-point, immediately left of Gagnon, is #79 Sissy Schuss.
It is important to note that the top part of #79 Sissy Schuss,
is frequently used as link to the mid-point Gagnon as you can see
where the 2 meet in the "S" shape extension of Sissy. (We very
unofficially call this Sissy/Gagnon intersection the "Sissy Schuss
Side Door", because it allows mid-point entry from the side.)

This occurs mostly at the beginning of the season as the base is
being built up, but as it is both more gradual and wind sheltered,
it's a good alternative anytime for beginners as the upper portion of
Gagnon can be prone to windblown slick or mogul conditions.
This pic was taken from the mid-point of #88 Action, on the "Edge".

Here's the Trail Map perspective. The above shot was taken looking
back over to Gagnon from just about where the "Snowflake" symbol
is shown here on # 88 Action.

Sample of how connector trails can provide quick access to
and from excellent terrain.

Here is a repeat of the above, but with some notes added to show one
of our favourite uses of Gagnon. From the bottom of Banzai, turn left to the
runout of Lowell Thomas, then traverse Gagnon to enter the "Side Door"
of Sissy Schuss.

This is a ground level shot below, taken just above the Lowell
Thomas Triple Chair Base, looking up Gagnon with references noted
to tie into the above pic.
