Trail # 71 Beauchemin Haut, North Side.

Post by T360 »

Beauchemin is the main top to bottom boulevard on
the north side. It is a blue run on the top portion which
ends just before reaching the Lowell Thomas base loading
zone, and a green run from there to the base of the north side.

This Pic is taken from the Edge sector, looking over at the Summit
of Tremblant and the top portion of Beauchemin Haut, Upper.
You can see that Beauchemin is a very wide accommodating
run and it is maintained to a very high level of grooming quality.

The Duncan Quad Chair Lift can be seen to the top left of the screen,
and the South Side TGV Quad Chair can be seen to the top right.
The Lowell Thomas Triple Chair can also be seen, coming in at the top,
almost dead-centre of this frame in the mid-ground(only a few summit
level chairs visible), and it should be noted that Skiers/Boarders can
cycle Beauchemin Haut by using this lift which services the Nor-East
Upper Half only, of Versant Nord, the North Side.

If you look closely above, you will see a faint diagonal line running
across Beauchemin’s upper pitch which is part of a descent path
that cuts downward across Beauchemin. On Screen Right, the upside
of this path, it’s #75, “Andy Moe” coming in. Crossing diagonally downward to
Screen Left, it’s #76, “Axle” continuing left on a path to Mid-Lowell Thomas, # 67.
We refer to this crossing below.

While the top pic. very nicely shows the distant scope of Beauchemin Haut,
it does not convey the impressive width of this Trail as you stand at its upper
main pitch. Rated as a “Blue” intermediate run, it has a very spacious feel to it
that allows Intermediates the confidence to make wide traverses and the ability
to easily control your descent rate by simply using more width between turns.
It definitely has another side very suitable for experts too, when there is no other
traffic and speed can be safely dialled up. The tremendous width and consistent
pitch here render out some very unique speed capabilities for high performance
GS carving style.

Above: Notes regarding Access To/From Beauchemin from the top pitch.
Andy Moe, #75 comes in off screen left and diagonally across and slightly below,
Axle, # 76 runs off screen right. You can see the Axle Trail Sign, screen right.
The Right hand turn onto Axle can also be used to traverse over to the Lowell
Thomas(#67) mid-point, where you can get back to the bottom of that Sector
or even traverse further over #70, Gagnon, to reach the “Side Door” of Sissy Schuss.
Refer to Trail Map Schematic to review these options.

Below is a shot looking down Beauchemin Haut from the lower section
as the intersection with lower P’tit Bonheur is coming in on screen left.
La Traverse, #73, is coming into this decent path on screen right.

The Above and Below were taken on different days, but otherwise...

If you went from the spot you’re standing in above, to the spot you can see
the farthest down the Trail, then turn around and look back up, this shot below
is what you’ll see.

This very nicely illustrates the beautiful rolling topography that has a very
discernible rhythm as you descend. For those who enjoy the speed, these
natural contours allow low-gravity assist for turning as the unweighting action
you experience cresting them augments efforts and makes rotation easier.
For genuine Intermediates or Confident Beginners breaking out into more
challenging terrain, the wide space between the contours allows plenty of time
to control speed as well as experiment with incremental steepness in shorter
segments.
