Re:Mountain Trail Conditions, Unvetted Feedback Caveat.

This is an excerpt from one of our 2014/15 Winter Daily Conditions
Reports and we’re adding it here because it has relevance that might
even be considered as “Skiing 101”, i.e., applicable to any Ski area
that you may not be totally familiar with.

It all stems from a Chairlift experience we had one afternoon that
made us realize that Chairlift Trail Feedback really needs to be evaluated
on the basis of the actual skills and experience of the person providing
it and unfortunately, that means it’s not always reliable.

Here’s the way we summarized it then:

A common problem is that some people will blame conditions rather
than their lack of skills. “Intermediate” skilled skiers complaining about
“Expert” trails is a case we see far too often.

We touch on that in general reference in a “Sticky” Topic(it stays above
all the otherwise chronologically filed daily entries) in our Mountain
Conditions section and we’re making this addition here with a bit more
detail as we feel it’s vitally important to keep in mind as an example
when considering what others may say about a Ski Area, not only while
riding up a Chairlift, but anywhere there’s an impressionable and/or receptive
audience... like the “Internet”, or anywhere else people may seek “101” type

Another way to put that is...

Just because someone can afford to buy a “Ferrari", it does not automatically
make them "Mario Andretti"...

Bottom line:

Especially with Negative Feedback, and no matter the Ski Resort,
Consider the source before giving it any significant weight.
