If you could be here, but you've made a different decision...

you're craaaazzzzzeeeeee.....

Exceptional Quality Alpine Snow Sports Surfaces, at Tremblant...

Now!

More later as time permits,

but in the mean-time, if you live nearby,
just pack up tonight and hit the road early...

--------------------- Orig. Post @ 8:20 A.M. --------------------

12(*) Open Trails on the Crisp, Cool Slopes at Tremblant.

Same 10 as yesterday, plus Nansen(upper) and Mi Chemin!!!

The Opening of Nansen is a Big Deal in the seasonal life of Tremblant
so we're very happy to see this 1939 Standard of Excellence on-line!

Mountain Crews continue to refine terrain that was open
on Wed., the day after the storm, but evidently some of
them needed further attention... more on that later.

Here is another in the series we took from the Government Dock
on Lac Tremblant yesterday. While it looks very much the same
as the one we used in last eve's Apres Ski, it is different. The Cloud
shadow is darker over the top of Johannsen and the Summit Comm.
Tower is more clearly visible. Each one shows slightly different character
and we enjoy looking for little details that make them unique.

One things for sure though, and that's when you come around the bend in the

Anticipation of those first turns of the day, for many at this time of year
the first turns of the new Season, runs very high as you get to the Summit
in the Gondola. There is no question that the views are spectacular on
any fine sunny day, but when your Skis or Board are right beside you,
the thrill of Winter Alpine Snow Sports takes over and adrenaline begins
to prepare your body for the effort about to be made.

You can literally see the happy anticipation people have when you hang
around at the Summit as much as we do. Check this one below out:

It should be noted here that the Snow quality that can be seen both on the
surface and in the case of our Jumper above, from the tails of his Skis, can
be found over the entire open array of terrain at Tremblant right now.
It is a very fine, cold formed snow that holds an edge when carved or spreads
softly with little resistance for side slips, snowplows, parallel turns or
any other technique you use.

The base is made up of a foundation of Blown Snow that was started almost
3 weeks ago, and has since been significantly added to by Mother Nature in
multiple small daily snowfalls, and one really big Seasons First Snow Storm
on this past Tues. Eve., Wed. Morn.

With the Top-To-Bottom, South Side Total Tremblant Vertical available to
Ski/Board Laps, right from Opening Day, plus all this great added Snow...
It's a way above average start to the season and all Tremblant Fans that
can make it should be motivated to do so.

Below: Learning How To Ski or Board ? Here's the main reason you want
to be at Tremblant for learning...

Tremblant offers some of the finest, most consistent learning surfaces
on Planet Earth.
Not only are those surfaces easy to move on, but
they exist in length that can exponentially increase your learning curve
because you can establish a sustained practice rhythm over a distance
that will eclipse the size of many entire Ski areas on just one or two runs
at Tremblant.

The Big Snow Storm over Tuesday Night and Wednesday gave us 15
open trails for Wed. but some of those, the Lowell Thomas Sector ones,
were taken off-line yesterday for continued refinement and they, plus
additional will be Open for the weekends total of 23 trails we're told.

The Snowmaking so visible on the South Side will hopefully see some
of the new openings happen for the weekend too. Time will tell.

Todays Weather: is supposed to be mostly sunny with a daytime high
temp at -10C, fairly easy to dress for, but even easier to handle because
the wind is forecast to be light and from the West, so riding up the TGV,
it will be at your back and you'll be able to feel thermal energy from
the Sun. Very nice compared to the recent windy days.

The North should be very pleasant, in the lee of the wind, so almost calm
except for your forward motion wind speed.

The cool -18C over last night will have dried out the snow even more,
so we expect surfaces to be very sweet, with speed traction and
smoothness comparable to any mid-winter day.

At this stage we also expect tomorrow to be a copy of today
with one difference, our sources tell us the Open Trail Count
for Tomorrow will virtually double.

It would not surprise us to see the Open number go up by 1 or more, but
in any case, what will be open for the weekend will be very fine.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
