Flying Mile Quad Chair Shows "OPEN"

More Options.... More Better!!!

Overheard up on the Gondola Conversation...
Golf Balls On the North?

There's no question that after last weeks "Warm" followed
by Friday and onward "Cold", surfaces that were all intact
in terms of coverage were also solid. Mountain Crews work
every single day Grooming and after one of these natural
temperature swing cycles, that also includes breaking up "Solid"
and rendering it into finer and finer particles. This process,
assisted by Mountain User Traffic, works over a couple of days
to produce top layers that have a depth of lose snow that's both
easy and fun to Ski/Board on.

There are portions, particularly on trail edges, where larger
chunks exist and these may be referred to as "Golf Balls"
due to similar shape/dimensions. Nothing you can do other
than get out and use the trails to help speed up the process.

None of this detracts from enjoyment as far as we are concerned
because Ski/Board conditions are always relative to Weather Factors
out of Human control.

Nobody does a quicker, better job of restoring than the Tremblant
Mountain Crews, so if there are "golf balls" here, there are likely
"tennis balls" everywhere else.

The nightly Grooming does about 90%, and most of the Trail
centres have finer, more snowy-like particle sizes. There's more
natural snow in the forecast for tomorrow and that, in addition
to another days Grooming and traffic will go further yet toward
the complete reduction in any chunky feel under Skis/Boards.

In the Mean-time, the quality of your Tremblant Alpine Snow Sport
Workout is enough to turn your legs into Jello if you so desire.
If all you want to do is cruise, or go easy, stay primarily in Trail
centres and look to the top pic's in this post for the vast majority
of surface conditions you'll find.

Below: The Shaded North light was quite flat yesterday, so this
might be the best way to show particle size on bright Beauvallon.
Even though there are still some larger pieces, note the carve
lines through it too. This is a case where Carving technique gets
smoother action than Skidding technique, but it's still all very easy
to Ski or Board on.

Todays Weather:

Beautiful. Brilliantly Sunny, Light Westerly Breeze moving
across the Summit from the Soleil Side towards Lowell Thomas.

Mid-Aft. high temp @ -8C, and there will be thermal warming
energy in quiet Trailside breaks.

Easy, easy scenic Winter day.

Snow starting tonight and carries through tomorrow with estimates of
up to 15 CM or about 6 inches. What a perfect start to the week.

Grooming, Snowmaking and Lift Status, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca

Please Note: The Official Snow Report from Tremblant.ca states
that there are changes being made to the data presentation
over time. Anecdotally, it seems that "Progressive" or Gradually
Opening Trails may or may not be included in the Total Open
as Tremblant.ca modifies the data format. Historically, as in
past seasons, "Progressive" Open Trails have been included in
the Total Number Open.

Thousands of Hours of Crews Work always leaves us with
Fabulous Trail Surfaces after the 24 Hr Event.

Today, after lunch, that may all be Open, and for sure
everyone attending tomorrow and onward will get this
huge benefit.

With the North now Open, Top-To-Bottom, we're moving
into the next phase of the maturing Tremblant Season
as we head towards Christmas.

Page under Construction, so if you live nearby, quit wasting time
here and go Skiing or Boarding at Tremblant now.

24 Hr Event wrap-up and other Tremblant News in Apres Ski,
hopefully, by mid eve.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

Two major topics...

1) Social: 24 Hour Children's Charity wrapped up at exactly Noon.

2) Slope-Side: Big Snowmaking Agenda...

Let's start with some positive Slope-Side notes...

There's a TON of Serious Snowmaking on
the North.

Duncan, Upper and Lower, Vanier, Devils River, La Griffe, etc.

The Summit views were Long Range Sunny, some cloud, but
that only made the sky more interesting and never took anything
away from the day's brightness.

It was cool, the breezes were gusty and there was a lot of swirling
around the upper contours of the peak. The original forecast was for
a high of -8 C, but if felt cooler.

The temp/breeze combination made proper overlaps and seals
important for comfort, if you ignored those details Mother Nature
gave you a poke just to remind you.

Traffic created some icy patches through nothing but wear over wind.
No doubt that there are still some effects from last weeks warm spell,
however it's important to note that there is almost no loss of coverage.

If all the Snow Falls the way they predict for tomorrow, any of these
glitches will quickly fade away under deep new snow.
