There's a lot of Fresh Snow Fallen, Falling, and Going to Fall on Tremblant.

The heaviest snow accumulation in this system is to occur from
3:00 P.M. onward, so even "Last Run" is too soon to know how
much or exactly where it's all going to end up.

On the South, Fresh Snow was definitely accumulating on the Trails,
but we'd have to say, there was less in the trees than we thought we
might see. After thinking about it, we feel the wind was just enough
to prevent Tree buildup, but wasn't blowing strong enough to move it
off the Trail surfaces. We can certainly live with that.

Nansen, as a South Side example, had beautifully even, fresh
snow distribution over its entire 6.2 Kilometre length.

The wind was more vigorous than forecast and that had the effect
of blowing much of it off the Summit, after which it swirled around
and landed below the Summit.

Below, a shot arriving at the Duncan Summit shows the
wind's effects, but that was really limited and once on
the move, within a few turns, the snow was piling up.

The swirl factor rendered a fairly even distribution North and South,
although Beauchemin and its immediate neighbours clearly had a
greater accumulation by the end of the day.

For Those with an interest in Mountain Operations Equipment...

Pinroth, the manufacturer of Grooming/Packing equipment
had a New Machine on site for some sort of Product Video
Production. Late off the Mountain, we met the New Machine
on Beauchemin Bas(lower), just below the Edge Sector entrance.
Unfortunately we had already run the camera out of battery,
so by the time we got the spares in, it was already past, so we
were able to get this one anyway.

What-ever testing they were doing, they got our vote as this
machine laid down one of the nicest strips of Corduroy known.

We can honestly say we're the first ones to try out it's product
and here's the "Proof of Excellent Corduroy" on Beauchemin Bas
we can share with you.

If this above is any indication of the surfaces Tremblant Guests
will have in the morning, we can say it will be an exceptionally
fine First Tracks!

We called for a slight North Bias in Snow accumulation, so
we feel good about the reality, at least as far as "Last Run"
anyway.

What happens overnight may be different seeing as how the wind
seemed to be calming as we left the North Parking Lot.

The drive back around along the Scenic Snow White Winding Way
to the South was like some sort of fantasy post card snow video.
The road was freshly plowed, but with no traffic, it was a white
ribbon of mesmerizing Snow in the headlights, and, two hands on
the wheel.

The PRELIMINARY(subject to Morning Confirmations) Open Trail
list for tomorrow is attached below in "Reply".

----------------- 8:29 A.M. Orig. Post --------------------

21(*) Open Trails on the Heavily Snowing Slopes at Tremblant.

(Please Note: Rapid Snowfall Fill Rate may cause unexpected
changes up or down in Open Trail Count, without notice.
Obey ALL SKI PATROL Mountain Postings.)

Given all the respect that it deserves....

This is a pretty good way to start the week at a Ski Resort.

Indeed, respect for hazardous driving, heavy drifting, reduced visibility,
all kinds of potential logistical/infrastructure problems like downed
power lines, blocked roadways, accidents etc., etc., etc. ....

While on the other hand... BIG, VERY BIG, SNOW!!!

Lets go with the "Silver Lining" aspects of the (Snow) Cloud....

Any glitches that remained from last weeks "Warm",

will, in all likelihood, be buried under a ton of FRESH SNOW.

TOTAL SNOWFALL EXPECTED ????

Forecasters say 15 CM, BUT... wind and drifting will create
zones of far more... and some less, so hard to tell until we
get out in the field to see how it lays on the Mountain.

Due to the fact that the wind is not a raging, Howling, Monster...

There will be Heavy Drifting features of potentially significant depth
on many areas of Tremblant.

Entire Sectors of the Mountain May Get Dumped On.

SKIING AND BOARDING CONDITIONS SUMMARY:

Deep, Fresh Snow Fabulous!!!

ONE.PIC.FORECAST.SAMPLE.

It will look like this to begin with and by the end of the day
there will be a LOT MORE!

AS WELL AS SNOWFALL WARNING....
Todays weather is a very easy -6C, rising up to -1C with
moderate to strong East winds swinging around to Sou-East
during the day, so basically coming up the Mountain from the
Geant/Devil's River/Duncan side and crossing the Summit toward
the TGV Area.

Heavy Snowfall, Blowing and Drifting will likely benefit the entire
Summit Sector with a slight bias to the North.

We'll get back to ya on that in Apres Ski.

CONDITIONS CAVEAT:

Extremely Quick Heavy Snowfall Can present Challenges.
Go with Care on Initial Explorations and acknowledge that
virtually every run can be different than the last.

OBEY ALL SKI PATROL POSTED MOUNTAIN SIGNAGE.

Page under all day POWDER ALERT Construction...

If we don't put any more up here for a while, it's because
we've gone out to do Field Work "Research".

...if you can,
MAKE TRACKS FOR TREMBLANT !!!
... actually, you'll need to make tracks just to get to Tremblant...

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
