The rest of the Tremblant Region digs out from Major Snow....

... along with the entire Nor-East section of the North American Continent.

Typically, after a really big snow we might expect the Open Trail
Count to go up, so when it does not, or in this case, goes down
a bit, we suspect "Trail Management" of some sort to either
consolidate or improve existing Open Terrain.

Either way, with the number of "Progressive" openings on todays
Official Open Trail List, we're looking forward to that number
taking a substantial jump up during the day and certainly for
days ahead.

Speaking of "Looking Forward" ... before heading off to the
Mountain daily, we love to Scan the Web Cams for the insight
they provide....

This A.M.'s Nord, North Base....

And What We See Is:

1) A Lot Of Snow with less South Side accumulation in Trees,
indicating strong wind Snow Delivery.

2) A Lot of Snow with fair North accumulation in Trees indicating
Less windy Snow Delivery and Potentially LARGE Drifting.

3) The primary wind direction at the Summit during the Storm
was West.

Consequently... We Predict... Vast expanses of nicely Drifted in
North Summit Sectors as well as enhanced Natural Snow Surface
Conditions all over the Mountain.

The possibility exists that there may be daytime Grooming
on the South Side Progressive Openings as well. Uneven
Snow distribution due to Wind Contour Heavy, Deep Snow Drifting
could necessitate levelling out surfaces to provide smooth, safe
consistency.

--------------- Conditions Caveat: -----------------

Even Though there are Acres and Acres, Dozens of Miles and Kilometres
of Freshly Groomed Open Terrain...

Abundant, Thick and/or Drifted Fresh Snow... can present
challenges to Beginners and Intermediates. Compaction occurs
in daily increments with Grooming cycles and Mountain User
Traffic.

Day 1 after Big Snow... Groomed surfaces can have a soft depth
that may allow Skis or Board to submerge below the surface to variable
degrees. Smooth control inputs for steering and braking will have best
results. Avoid "Jamming", allow additional distance for turns and stops
and keep speed low.

There may be zones of irregular depths in "Tracked Up" areas that
cause greatly different forward resistance as they are traversed.

It is critical to Keep Speed Under Control in Tracked Up Zones!

------------- End of Caveat -----------------

Todays Weather:

Overcast, good chance of Flurries, even more consistent Snowfall
as the day becomes evening. Daytime High Temp @ -11 C and
moderate East winds.

With the Storm Front well past now, Snowfall that may come
in the latter part of the day has a much better chance of
being a Straight Down Snowfall as opposed to being propelled
sideways by the high frontal winds. We could actually see
a more visible accumulation on trees, structures etc., as well
as a more even deposit on Trail surfaces with less drifting.

The total Snow expected overnight could be as much as another
5 CM.

Looking ahead at the upcoming week, the temp's are forecast to
be moving steadily up and there's More Snow in the mix as well.

We're on a great path towards the Christmas Holidays and conditions
should be excellent for those who are attending in the near future.

Please Note: there are 17 "Progressive" or Gradual Openings
on the Versant Sud, the South Side as a result of the weather.
We expect many of those to clear during the day so the total
Open could exceed 50 by after lunch.

The Joys of Much New Snow!

Tremblant continues to benefit from Abundant Natural Snowfall
and almost ideal snowmaking conditions for an overall rapidly
expanding inventory of Open Terrain.

It may still be Early Season, but the Open Groomed Surfaces
are Mid-Winter Quality.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
