A Spectacular, Classic, Scenic, Tremblant Winter Day!

--------------------------------------------

Ski and Board conditions today will see an incremental improvement
on Yesterdays well recovering Groomed Slopes.

It will be MEGA-FAST!

Largely Frozen Granular with a small
Natural Snow mixed top surface layer with...

excellent speed...
and
good grip...

Consequently...

------------- Conditions Caveat ------------

Watch out for "Go" Speeds that exceed "Whoa" Braking.
(and/or any other forms of control inputs.)

Icy Substrates can happen, sometimes with little or no warning.

You are responsible for everyone at and below you if you
are passing them, including Avoiding any and all totally unexpected
and sudden changes into your path by those you are pulling
even with in order to pass. Skiers and Boarders may have Blind Sides
if their focus is on the Fall-Line and may totally unintentionally, accidentally,
Cut You Off.

If they Cut You Off, and you hit them...

it's still your fault for passing too close.

Where ever possible, give wide birth for overtaking. If you can't pass
safely, you must slow down, fall in line, and try passing again, later, when safe.

We realize that those reading here are probably the least likely to need the
prompt, we just get frustrated sometimes by reckless people that think
speed gives them a Right-Of-Way.

If you are a truly "Safe" Skier, you almost need to have eyes in
the back of your head some days.... Call it "Defensive Skiing".

Are there Tremblant Advantages in any of this ???

Yup, at least a couple'r three that we can quickly touch on...

1) Elevation Differential @ between 3 to 5 degrees C Cooler at the Summit.
Best Case Scenario... If the daytime high temp forecast is incorrect and it's
actually lower, then the Summit might never see rain at all. The possibility
exists that Summit sectors might get Snow. The Strata of the Winds Aloft
are often quite a bit cooler above the Summit. Are We Dreamers??
...time will tell, but we can tell ya for a fact... it does happen periodically.

2) "North"... as in farther "North" than any other significant Ski Resort.
If it's going to be temporarily warm up "North" here at Tremblant, odds are
it will be "Warmer" anywhere "South", so relatively speaking Tremblant
typically suffers Less from these weird weather anomalies than it's more
Southerly peers.

3) Less effects = Quicker recovery. Combine that with the super-Quick
capabilities of Tremblant Mountain Operations typical recovery strategies,
and the benefit to Tremblant Ski/Board Freaks... is More, Better, Sooner Quality.

What Is The Value Of Any Of This??? ... a couple of examples...

A) For those of us Optimists that Know that there's no such thing as a bad
day at Tremblant, being prepared is the key to All Weather Enjoyment.
If it's "Open", we Ski ANY WEATHER... and have fun doing it.

Tremblant360 Rules of Skiing/Boarding #5:

"Those that can adapt the quickest, Have the most fun!"

We're a tiny fraction of the true Tremblant Fans that
show up to Ski... no matter what, and the better the
info. we have to get ready with, the better our adaptations
are.

B) Sitting in Boston, Mass., 5 years from now... doing "Homework"
on where to go for a Ski/Board Vacation. You're a retired Couple, or
You've got a young family and you're pulling the young kids out of
First and Fourth Grade School because "Travel is Education" so it won't
hurt academically. In either case, the early season prices are really
really good and you get more bang for the buck. You're Scrolling through
this Archive to look at all the second weeks of January at Tremblant to
see the range of conditions you might encounter. Not only can you find
that all here, but you can find out exactly how Tremblant deals with it.

Go ahead... look up any Eastern North American Ski Resort and try to
pull up Stats for the second week in Jan. for the last 5 years(like you can
in the Dated Index of this forum) and let us know how you make out.

We think you'll be hard pressed to find comfort in any quality analytical depth,
and even if you could, we think you'd be hard pressed to find a Mountain
this good, or this quick, at reacting to the unavoidable whims of Mother
Nature that can upset Half a Continent in 18 Hours.

Tremblant Biased??? You Bet, but don't forget, we got that way
from years of Skiing almost everything "East" experience.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
