If You Know The Mountain Code Of Conduct…

It’s no Secret… We endlessly promote the Mountain Code of Conduct because
it prevents injury and any consequential disruptions of Skiing or Boarding.

(**)”Always Ready To Help” is an Important Difference to “Have To Help”,
as in the case of any Accident that requires Ski Patrol attendance.

Over the course of a busy Holiday Weekend, unfortunately there is a
higher probability of accidents and witnessing some of those as all
Mountain users see from time-to-time, reminds us that if there was
greater awareness and respect for the Mountain Code Of Conduct,
there would be fewer incidents that require the Professional Assistance
of the Very Fine Members of Tremblant’s Ski Patrol.

The Up-coming School Spring Breaks will see increased Mountain Traffic,
so when-ever you have the chance, Promote The Code, and if you see
them Trail-Side and they’re not busy helping someone, take a moment to
stop and Thank the Very Dedicated members of the Ski Patrol for all their work.

Safety Is A Community Effort, so we all have a part.

Moving On To Todays Forecasted Excellent Ski/Board Conditions…

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

T360 Middle of the Night Shift Apres Ski.

Snowy, Windy, Overcast, Windy, Warmer, Windy, Smooth, Windy.

Skiing still Very Fine for Vast Majority, but definitely took more
focused attention to technique.

There was an Overnight accumulation in some Lee Side areas, however, the Howling
Wind over Monday night prevented any sort of even distribution and predictably
the wide open spaces of the widest Trails exposed to that wind did not hold much
of the new snow.

A lower North Side example, shown below on Sissy Schuss, does typify Lee Side
Snow Accumulation and because it seems to have arrived after Grooming, it
also shows some top layer thickness.

That Top Layer Thickness took some muscle for all Skill Levels, but more
importantly it took complete concentration to navigate at any speed
because of the slightly irregular resistance encountered between the
thin and thick tracked top layer.

These performance and navigational characteristics were amplified on Steeper
Trails like Expo, with additional challenges added due to the occasional
presence of icy spots below crests that got scraped off very quickly by traffic.

This shot above is just below the top crest of Expo and the centre
portion here is extremely “Firm” under the loose top snow, so carving
traction is not practical and the best technique option was a very
short radius, Old School, Skidded Parallel Turn at slow speed, with
a low centre of gravity, compact posture.

One of the most reliable Expert Descents was the Left Side of McCulloch
going down. The adjacent Trees definitely sheltered that side and anyone
capable of quick, tight turns had a nice even surface to work with over
the distance of the Upper pitch.

The GoTo Trail du Jour Award goes to…

P’tit Bonheur. Right from the top, P’tit Bonheur had very consistent,
side-to-side, top-to-bottom uniformity. There was great carving speed
on the pitches and the smoothest, least tracked, even top layer over
its entire square surface area.

Wednesday should see substantially more even surfaces. The Wind has diminished,
at least at Resort Base Levels, and overnight Grooming will have compacted
a lot of the looseness out of the top layers for better edging performance.
