3/7/14 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Apres Ski Weather Observations:

As expected, the concentration of Solar Energy and Warmer Air Masses
combined to thaw out much of the accumulated Snow in the uninsulated trees.

That had zero effect on Surface Coverage which will remain at 100%
for weeks and weeks with the support of an extraordinarily deep frost below.

There are zones of Surface softness, however, they are more pronounced
in size and degree of thermal evidence on the South.

Those Last Run soft zones will potentially be tomorrow mornings firm or
icy bits, a lot of which may depend on the order of Grooming and if any
specific soft zone got groomed before or after the evening drop in the temps
which are supposed to be around -7 C overnight.

Spring Cycles are upon us, but they are not necessarily going to be every day
as the long range forecast does show a dip lower to daily Sub-Zero’s.

More on the way progressively, as time permits.

Sorry for delays due to “Chores”, but the bottom line is that
with temps way up to early morn. -9 C and daytime high at -1 C,
we’re now entering into the “Easy” part of the Season.

The Warm Temps will not affect Surface Coverage by a single square CM
because 30 hours ago it was -32 C at South Base Level, and cooler than
that by up to 4 degrees C on the elevated Mountain Trails. Prior to that,
except 2 relatively short, normal seasonal "January Thaw” style events,
it was solidly sub-zero for approx. 15 weeks, and cold enough to put Frost
much deeper into Mountain than would be average.

What you will see different on the Mountain is the loss of Snow in the
un-insulated Tree boughs. Warm air circulating 360 degrees around
snowy Tree Boughs, can melt off snow very rapidly, within hours.

But… the Frost in the Mountain acts as a cold storage reserve
that has tremendous capability to sustain the Packed Alpine Snow Base
from underneath and makes it Heat resistant for weeks after the
warmth begins to creep into the air.

Below: Looking up at the entrance to Devils River from under the
Duncan Quad on it’s final accent to the Summit. Yesterday, and for a
while this morning it looked pretty much like this. Tomorrow the Snow
in the Trees will be pretty much gone due to circulating warm air….

...There won’t hardly be a single snowflake out of place on the ground though.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
