Grey Rocks existed for many decades as primarily, an all-inclusive
“Cruise Ship-like” Winter Alpine Ski Resort experience, with a very
significant emphasis on Ski Instruction, particularly for those new
to the sport.
The clientele was very often a “Who’s Who” of very wealthy folks
from Long Island New York, or Connecticut, or Boston, or Montreal,
or Toronto, or anywhere else wealthy Nouveau-Skiers came from.
It was often said that you could walk into the bar at Grey Rocks any
night of the week in Ski Season and smell the money.
Part of the experience was Ski-Instruction-Immersion... your Instructor
was a charming Drill Sargeant and results were delivered with smiling, but
firm military precision, all followed in an atmosphere of relaxed Apres Ski
cocktails by the fireside and dancing to a live band after dinner.
While the All-Inclusive aspect may have been a feature, Grey Rocks
definitely operated as a local Ski Hill as well. Slopes immaculately
prepared for beginners and general instructional purposes also held
great attraction for many who desired smooth... with a capital “S”.

While this is the first specific reference we are making to it, the history
of Grey Rocks would be worthy of volumes of writings. The stories of
the thousands of guests that came to Grey Rocks to participate in the post
World War 2, to end of the Twentieth Century era of Alpine Skiings rapidly
expanding popularity, could literally fill books.
Over time, Tremblant360 hopes to accumulate additional entries and we would
also like to encourage those with any records they’d like to share to either register
on this forum and add their contributions as new topics, or forward records they’d
like to have added to us and we’ll include them.
