36(*) Open Trails on South and North Sectors at #Tremblant.
Please Note: there are 3 Trails designated “Race” and 3 Trails designated
“Progressive Opening" for a total In Use Potential today of 42(*).
If you have not been out yet...
Once Again, It’s time To Jump Into Action At Tremblant!
The North Park continues to be a “Goto” for many of Tremblant’s
talented Module Hounds and you never have to wait for more than
a few seconds it seems, before there’s a string of tricks being flipped.
Conditions are “Glorious”, Very, Very Fine.
Above: The Peak of Flying Mile affords excellent views of the entire South Summit Sector.
Below: One of those views is the diagonal Sou-East where the mid-point of
Taschereau is easy to spot.
In last nights Apres Ski, we theorized Nansen Bas, Lower might be Open and it is
showing as a Progressive Opening status for today, so look for the ropes to be
lifted at some point. The level of finishing at Last Run yesterday looked like
this below, so Crews probably spent all night on it and we’ll get there today to
update with the “Day After” pic’s for comparison. Hopefully by then we can even
cruise on it for a more thorough review.
If it does Open today, you can expect top surface layers to be from Fine to Course
Granular over wall-to-wall smooth as is typically the case for a brand new Opening,
so just like all other similar cases, it will respond very quickly and favourably to Mountain
User Traffic to assist in the Break-in process.
Yesterdays Surface level grip was of the highest order of universal evenness
and no matter where we travelled the speed, edge-set and traction allowed
for super easy Beginner moves, right on up to the most aggressive carving
Expert Technique can apply.
Pic’s Below:
Progressive Openings Yesterday saw the ropes come down on the Summit, top
portions of Banzai and Marie-Claude Asselin and the Snow tipped Tree Boughs
in this sector, one of the most beautiful parts of Tremblant, presented “Post Card”
scenery that never fails to impress.
Please Note: Technically Speaking, within 1 day, the Sun is at it’s annual lowest
point in the Sky as the Earth tilts on it’s Axsis. These inside portions of upper
Versant Nord do not see much direct sunlight as it is shaded by the profile of
the Summit during the Sun’s very low path across the Sky.
The result is a very dramatic difference in contrast which presents challenges for
amateur Photographers, but we are sure anyone witnessing these scenes personally
will back us up on the sheer Beauty of Mother Natures Tranquil Gems to be found here.
From a practical standpoint, the raw nature of the Open portion of these two
trails has a considerable amount of natural hazards so choosing to Ski or
Board carries some risk for the condition of your Ski/Board Bases.
As Usual... For us anyway... we can’t wait for these runs to get built up
by Mother Nature as She will soon do, they are some our personal Fav’s
and even this partial, Progressive opening is an important step forward
towards the real start of Winter, which is literally, Tomorrow.
Back Out on the Groomed Expert Terrain...
We would like to add our Vote to that of Sacha Leclair’s earlier this week
for nominating “Devils River” as possibly the “Best of Breed” i.e., Top Dog,
Number 1, in the awards for “Most Consistent Expert Terrain Descent Path
At Tremblant” right now.
This Immaculate Trail is a Wall-to-Wall Wide Super Highway of Rolling Topography
that just begs for Hard Carving Technique for it’s entire length.

The performance capability of the surfaces is absolutely reliable with tuned gear
and any well executed descent on it will have you an Ear-to-Ear Smile that will
reflect the Unmitigated Joy of exploring it’s best lines. We recommend you take
a couple or three runs here just to discover it’s outstanding Technical Merit.

Todays Conditions should start that One Notch Up, due to overnight Grooming refinement,
however, it may be a busy Weekend Saturday, so by end of day, there could be Icy or
Slick Zones where high volume Traffic can move the loose snow off to the sides.
The Base is very firm, so we don’t think you’ll see much in the way of Mogul formation,
but close attention, and a “Go With The Flow” attitude with Speed Caution as the day
progresses is advised.
Today’s Weather Forecast:
Actually the McCulloch Pic. above is Multi-Tasking because not only does it
show the Weather we expect, but it highlights preparations for a Major Race Event
there today... and... it also shows quite nicely the kind of surfaces you get to
work with under the illumination of Direct Sunlight that we could not show
the same way for the North Surfaces that are all similar.
Back to the Weather... Daytime high @ -6C, just after lunch and light Westerly
winds that may shift around to East later on in the day. Until they shift, those
breezes will be coming up the Mountain over Taschereau. Supposed to be
Brilliantly Sunny all day long.

you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
