T360 Apres Mid-Night, Apres Ski Edit @ 12:50 A.M.
Preparations are rapidly happening at the Sud, South,
Resort Base for the 24hr. Children’s Charity Fundraiser
kicking off at noon on Saturday.

Up on the Mountain, the skiing remains very good.
There were some feedbacks about “Icy” in places,
but as far as we know, those zones were mostly
on steeper pitches, or below crests.
We were primarily on Blue’s and Green’s where we found
very little “Icy”. No doubt, very dense compacted snow
that some think was slick, but with our SL Edges, no
real problem at all.
Beauchemin Bas, Lower, Not Icy, Reliable Edge Hold
with visible carving tracks.

Despite the airborne Snowfall-filters in the pic. above, it’s
pretty easy to see the carving tracks left by others, as well
as the grip being utilized by the skier in this view. This was not “Icy”.
With regard to newly opening terrain...
In our Orig. Post below, we discuss potential trail openings
surrounding the Expo Quad. Here’s what we found at the
base of the Expo Quad at “Last Run” today...

Expo Open Tomorrow???? Based on the “Signs”, it seems possible!
Tomorrows weather is a bit odd in that the temps
are expected to drop during the day to -13C, so you’ll need to
have some extra layers along if you want to keep your heat.

16(*) Open Trails on Sud, South, Nord, North, Summit-To-Base X2, at #Tremblant .
Please Note: The understanding we have is that the low Open number
this morning is temporary, due to the massive Trail Development
work going on for the 24Hr. Children’s Charity Fundraiser Course,
as well as the Trails for Public Weekend Access. Open Trail numbers
could change during Open Hours today. Consult with Info.Ski Crews
for real-time updates.
Massive Snowmaking Effort To Maximize
24Hr. Children’s Charity Weekend Open Trails.
Case Study Example: Versant Nord, North Side, Expo Sector.
12.5.18.Duncan.Quad.Views.Expo.Quad.Sector.Peak.Snowmaking.d.jpg
Looking at the activity of Mountain Crews at and around the Expo Quad
and Expo Peak are keys to understanding potential Openings of terrain
for the upcoming weekend.
In the Pic’s above and below, we can see both active snowmaking above,
as well as active Expo High Speed Quad Test cycling below. It may be
logical to conclude that the Expo Quad will be on-line imminently, i.e.,
for the weekend, maybe even Friday?

One Example Of The Trail Development Within The Above:
La Griffe, Official Trail # 94.
12.1.18.Nord.North.La.Griffe.Bas.Lower.at.Fuddle.Duddle.Trail.Prep.Observations.c.jpg
Above:
La Griffe has been on the radar for many days and when it
could be observed from Open trail # 78, Fuddle-Duddle, Bas,
Lower, you could see its evolution from the raw “Big Bump”
initial snowmaking, to what we see here, what we call “Rough Cut”
primary grooming. The advantage we see in having this basic
machine-tracked flattening is that whatever snowfall occurs,
the roughness of the surface here will capture a lot of loose
wind-blowing snow. Ultimately, that loose blowing surface snow
will fill up the voids, holding it in place, then it's ready for a final
finish grooming that has a very high proportion of Natural Snow
in those finished top layers.
We think this is an excellent strategy because it allows the snowmaking
to aerate, i.e., dry out, plus the captured natural snow it will retain
adds a very silky, smooth feel to the finished grooming.
This Expo/La Griffe Sector/Trail focus is only one example of many.
On Versant Sud, the South Side, the biggest example is Nansen Bas,
Lower. Due to Nansen’s capability to easily move all Skill Levels to the
Resort Base when there’s a peak demand on Johannsen for the Charity
Event, we think there’s a good possibility it may be worked into Public
Opening.
We’ve been asked, “What do you think will be Open for the weekend?"
Based On Everything We've Seen...
Including, but not limited to,
-Everything that's Open today.
-Anything that’s already been Open, but might be closed now,
so far this season(not guaranteed, just good candidates.).
-Anything that’s been on the Snowmaking List over the last week,
plus where snowmaking is today(not guaranteed, just good candidates.).
...we think there could be between 30 to 40 Open Trails for the weekend.
However.... We Could Be Wrong... However... This weekend is the biggest
single, annual Ski Area Charity Fundraiser in North America, possibly the World,
so no one is more motivated to have the “Eyes Of The World” see
Tremblant in a very positive state than the Mountain Crews here, so
we think there will every effort possible to get as much Open as they can.
Weather Notes:
Conditions Notes:
What is open, will be very fine. There was more snowfall overnight,
and another Night-Shift of grooming, so the end result should be
a notch up in todays publicly available open terrain.
Here’s what you can do all day on the Open Terrain.
It’s not super-fancy action photography, snowy, grey, low contrast
light is always challenging for pic’s, however it does show the kind
of universal quality we’ve had every single day over the Groomed trails.
12.5.18.Nord.North.Beauchemin.Bas,Lower.Top.Pitch.d.jpg
The top layers have been more than enough to support
very enthusiastic and athletic edge-hold all day, every day,
so you can find this kind of performance right up to “Last Run”!
