Every once in a while, we hear little complaints about trails that
are restricted as they are set up as Race Courses, but we say
everyone should actually be very thankful, because...
The immaculate surfaces of a Race Course eventually become
part of the publicly accessible open terrain and for the days following,
we all get the benefits of the immense construction and maintenance
effort that was dedicated to them.

If today is your first day at Tremblant, you might not realize just
how much of the enjoyment you’ll get out of skiing/boarding McCulloch
today is a direct downstream benefit from the recent multi-day period this
run has been a race course.

At Tremblant, that’s an early season benefit that all guests have
because what ends up happening is rather like the way farmers
do “Crop Rotation”. Farmers rotate the use of fields in order to
keep the growing conditions optimal and this is the similar and
perhaps unintended benefit we get as Skiers when Mountain Crews
prepare different trails for use as race courses. In their turn,
each trail that’s had race prep., keeps that immaculately established
base for many days afterwards.

So you will find other trails like our McCulloch example above are
unusually fine from their time as race courses. Trail # 12, Erik Guay,
Trail # 71, Beauchemin Haut, Upper, Trail # 55, Jasey-Jay Anderson,
Trail # 7, Alpine, are only a few examples of trails that frequently get
used as race courses, then become the trails that will get raves of praise
for the quality they exhibit for the days or weeks that follow.

This is a primary benefit that all early season Tremblant Guests
who book for this time get, and it should be pointed out as a
legitimate motivation for future bookings if you are reading this
in the future as part of any historic conditions research. Tremblant
is a premier regional race training centre and every single guest
here, regardless of skill level, gets a direct benefit from that. Period.

Here is one current sample, Versant Sud, South Side Kandahar that’s
getting race course attention, so it, and all the other trails with the “Flag”
Icons will be off-line to the public, but no doubt, when it’s back on the
list, it will be a fine example of the excellence you’ll find on McCulloch today.

Regarding the Special Weather Statement Below:

The forecast temps during this event have been changed
so it remains to be seen how it all ends up, however, when
they are anywhere between zero C and + 5C or so, the
typical elevation differential of -4C can mean the Summit
and North sectors may be cool enough to generate snowfall.
Additionally, precipitation is generally formed in atmospheric
strata above the Mountain where it is usually cooler yet,
perhaps further enhancing the chances of snow.

Conditions Notes:

The Open Groomed terrain continue to be the jewels
of the crown. Every day of stable 24hour sub-zero C
temps facilitates incremental grooming refinements
as repeated overnight cycles render finer and finer
particle sizes and more consistent depths of loose top
layers.

There can still be traffic or wind generated exposures
of firm or icy bits, so care and caution on initial
explorations to identify evolving patterns is
recommended especially for steeper Blue and
all Black Groomed terrain.

The Sous Bois, Glade, Hors Piste, Un-Groomed
goes up and down in availability as the Ski Patrol
monitors it on a daily basis. Natural hazards exist
in all un-groomed to variable degrees.

want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
