102/102(*) Open Trails on the Snowy Cool Slopes of #Tremblant .

Clinically Speaking, The Skiing At Tremblant Is Excellent.

However...

North American Cold Weather Warnings
For Over 250,000,000 Million People Today
Include Tremblant.

Above and Below:
Yesterday, in addition to the really fine skiing, you could have
spent all day just observing the spectacular scenery. The dynamic
advance of the weather was a captivating view all on its own, but
mixed over and with the beauty of the Laurentian geography, it was
if you could see and feel the very hand of Mother Nature herself.

Albeit a handful of degrees cooler, today should be very similar.

These are the kinds of days that are very “Physical” in the raw sense
given the temp’s we have to persevere in. And... there’s a strangely
satisfying sensation of fulfillment that comes from the Apres Ski
realization that you have not only mastered the demands those
temps make on your stamina, but as well... there’s an equal and a
bit surprising realization that you were actually motivated to stay
out for an extra run, even though you were cold, for no other reason
than the skiing was so good, you could not leave “Last Run” undone.

Weather Notes:

(**)We think it is absolutely necessary to add
regional, in this case continental, archival weather
context so future readers do not think Tremblant exists
in a cool bubble on it's own.

When we say, as we have for several days, that
“The Weather Is The News”, it does not get more
graphic than the above sample from CNN’s 1.30.19
evening broadcast news.

As a compounding factor, Social Media discussions frequently,
and we think unfairly, sometimes criticize Tremblant for being
too cold, so if this record was reviewed without this continental
context for this morning, it could be easy to make that conclusion,
but... when it’s record cold all the way down to the Florida Keys,
when there are records, deaths and danger directly attributable to
this situation in Chicago, that’s when the weather record needs to
be framed with “Big Picture” detail to offset any local position within
those references.

If there is a “Silver Lining” in the Cool Cloud, it is that the
Mountain’s exposure to super-cool temp’s drives the frost
deeper into its conical mass. The deep frost then effectively
becomes a stored refrigerant that plays a critical role in the stability
of Ski/Board conditions when the eventual influence of “Spring”
occurs. This frost storage below the surface has the demonstrated
capability to support Ski/Board trail surface snow for many weeks
that directly influence both the quantity and quality of the
square area of Spring “Open” terrain. In that sense, “today" can
literally be the reason why you can be confident booking a late
March, early April, Tremblant Ski/Board Getaway Vacation when
you see these very cool mid-winter spells in any season, and be
very confident about those future conditions.

Conditions Notes:

Please Note:
Versant Soleil is on Progressive, Gradual opening that may be
subject to safety considerations that could include temperature
and wind load. It is possible that there could be other changes
during open hours.

Pretty obvious the big challenge today is going to be effectively
dressing to keep the Kkool out, and your body heat in, but...
if you can do that, you will be rewarded with all the best
performance qualities of speed and traction of Cryo-Snow,
the snow that is “Squeaky” when you walk over it as a packed
surface.

When groomed, this cool snow has excellent ski control
characteristics that can be generally be referred to as “Easy”,
and that very favourable quality can be extended throughout
all skill level rated trails.

In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste, Un-Groomed, the lightness
typical of super cool snow equals that of high alpine terrain
that you might find in the Alps or Rocky Mountains, and,
considering that Tremblant has received a Metre of snowfall
in the last 10 days, goes a long way to understanding that there
are superb conditions within this open terrain category.

It should be noted that at least at Tremblant, we know
what we are doing in cold temp’s. The Tremblant retail
market is very well equipped to allow you to effectively
handle cold temperatures with gear that actually works.
Even small, inexpensive accessory items like face masks,
nose guards, “Layers”, up to the latest in portable heat
sources like Lithium-Ion Battery powered boot and hand
warmer systems, can all make huge differences in your
enjoyment on cold days. Investing in quality accessories
not only allows you to handle “Today”, but puts you in
shape to safely handle any future “Kool” situations wherever
you go.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
