T360 Midnight Apres Ski Edit @ 11:55 P.M.

We did not get the forecast hours of unrestricted sunshine, however...
We did get a certain amount of brightness, as if it was on the verge of
clearing, and perhaps most importantly...

We did get fantastic Ski/Board conditions, so...

If we could only choose one pic. to summarize today at Tremblant,
this would be it:

All the advantages of a quiet Mid-week day...
All the advantages of fresh overnight snowfall...
All the advantages of superbly smooth grooming...

For All Tremblant Guests Lucky Enough To Be Here Today...

It Was A “Win, Win, Win” Scenario!

For Tomorrow ???

Same Thing, REPEAT...

However, about 10C WARMER, and way less overall wind,
so very good potential for a incrementally better day.

They’re Workin’ On It Now!!!

Tomorrow Weather is forecast to be daytime high at 0C for Sud, South Base,
so up on the Mountain, somewhere around -4C, and fractional wind, about
a quarter of the peak velocity today. The potential is certainly there for...

Another “Best Of” Win, Win, Win Scenario For Tomorrow????

32(*)Open Trails on Versant Sud/South and Nord/North Sectors at #Tremblant .

Imagine This All To Yourself...

This is the typical reality at Tremblant for what we refer to
as “Value Weeks” when there is very light overall traffic,
combined with optimal trail surfaces for the respective
point in time of the Winter Ski Season.

Mini-Case Study, Trail #72, Versant Nord, North Side P’tit Bonheur.

The number of days in any season that this marquis Versant Nord,
North Side trail(#72) is anything less than near-flawless, is usually
limited to less than the fingers of one hand. It was close to perfect
yesterday, and the odds are 99.99% it will be exactly the same today.

With all the new snow, plus another night of grooming it will be slightly
different, in the sense that every day is a unique fingerprint. But... it’s
magical characteristics of topographical progressions and it’s Summit
Lee-side sheltered location from the prevailing winds that get's it
so favourably drifted-in, are always the same primary components
that so consistently are combined with Mountain Crews meticulous
efforts to produce this phenomenal reliability.

Part of its beauty is that it can appeal to all Skill Levels. It is officially
a “Green”, “Easiest” Slope, but when it’s empty, with no one around, for
Expert Front-Side Carvers, it’s a Nirvana-like Carving Paradise capable
of Hand-dragged, ley-'em-over vertical on the side-walls, superbly
reliable traction and grip, for the sheer exhilaration of lateral turning
force on its beautifully flowing pitch sequences where we estimate
you can exceed 1G.

Talk About Versatile!

Up/Down, Their Style, Your Style, It All Works Here!

This is only one example of the broad range of appeal,
and the versatility in multi-skill level shared slopes of ideally
groomed descent lines that are Open at Tremblant now.

Yesterday’s Local’s feedback on other trails of noteworthy
performance include, but are not necessarily limited to,
Taschereau, Beauvallon Haut, Upper and Beauvallon Bas,
Lower, in the morning and a special note of local positive
feedback for trail #12, Erik Guay, in the afternoon. All of
these pre-existing positives, should be the basis for similar
ongoing conditions today.

This Was The Scene For Over 4 Hours Yesterday Afternoon...

...so it should not be too hard to figure out what that means for today!

An additional overnight snowfall came as well, although at
this stage we do not know the extent to which that either
covered the Open Trail network, or if it preceded or followed
the grooming night shift, but it should certainly be another
favourable component to todays performance quality.

Two Examples Of Big, Big Developing Terrain Expansion News.

Riding up the Nord/North Duncan Quad yesterday
you could hear the sound of the immense snowmaking
effort on the left side rising, over towards Trail # 93, Superieur.
The whole Duncan side of Versant Nord/North has been the
scene of layers of snowmaking, rough cut grooming and
more snowmaking for a couple of weeks, so we suspect the
finished effort at opening could produce some very high quality.

The expansion of the snowmaking infrastructure this year also
represents a huge functional upgrade for the Soleil Sector and
there is a very big push to get that sector on-line. We are not
sure of the Soleil Opening target date, but when it does open,
it’s our understanding that it should be at finished levels that
have not ever been possible with the old system, now replaced.

Weather Notes:

Do you remember that big yellow ball in the sky they call the “Sun”?

It seems as though we haven’t seen it in days, so today should
be a great change from all the overcast we’ve had recently and
personally, we’re looking forward to a photography environment
that’s got the easy advantage of sunlight for sharp focus and contrast.

If there’s a bit of a cautionary note in todays weather forecast, it would
have to be advice to bundle up with very secure exterior garment seals
and closures due to the wind velocity that is indicated at strong forces.
Today will be a classic study in “Wind Chill”. Facing it may be challenging,
while there will actually be Lee-side shelter in places where in calm zones,
you will be able to feel solar heat when safely standing still for a trail-side
break. As you can see from the hourly forecast data below, the wind factor
is greatest in the morning, and falls rapidly and dramatically by mid-afternoon.

Conditions Notes:

Normal Fall temperature oscillations above/below Zero C may
generate firm or icy bits in substrates that can become exposed
depending on traffic and/or facing wind direction, so what you
need to do is initially explore with care and attention to patterns
of conditions that are recognizable as sector trends in order to
anticipate the performance envelop that can be variable.

There is early season excellence within all Skill Level ranges, but
we are not yet at the mid-winter base depths or sustained sub-zero’s
of pure winter conditions, so you just need to be mindful and
do not take unexplored terrain for granted on first descents.
With the current open trails list, there is plenty of time in a day
to locate optimal conditions for your skill set, so go easy until
you confirm easy, complete control within your descent choices.

Please Note: There are some anomalies on the Official Trail PDF
this morning such as Open Lifts that we think may be incorrect
and one trail shown Open as Fuddle Duddle Bas, Lower, but
Sissy Schuss, the only way to get to it, shown closed. The best
thing to do is to consult with the Tremblant Info.Ski Crews
when you get to the Summit. They will have the latest updates
and you can go with confidence from there.

The quiet weeks just before the Christmas/New Years Holidays
represent an excellent opportunity to maximize early season
value on almost all metrics of economics and personal athletic
performance. If this is time you can allocate for Skiing/Boarding,
it’s a no-brainer for “Go”!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
