T360 Early Evening Apres Ski Edit, Under Progressive Assembly @ 7:37 P.M.

We do this once or twice per season, because...

You Are Having Visions Of Tremblant.

And The Visions We Have Of You At Tremblant Are Good.

Opportunities for clear shots were very limited so we’re glad we
got this one below... for some reason we’re having visions and
what we see is that those Skiers look like they’re from Sudbury?

Above and Below: We are always super-happy to meet folks
from Northern Ontario who make the trek across the Trans-Canada
Highway from all points West. Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury,
North Bay, etc., etc., all have dedicated Tremblant Fans who make
it tradition to hit the road for some genuinely serious Ski/Board vertical.
In this case, these two pic’s above and below are Tremblant Fans from
“The Nickel City”, Sudbury, Ontario. Bienvenue/Welcome to Tremblant!

Unfortunately for photography, the “Visions” we had were
quite limited. In this scene below, normally, you’d be able
to see about half way to Montebello Qc., but today, we’re
lucky to see the very best snowy signs of great Skiing for
tomorrow, about 20 metres away.

Fortunately for “Skiing”, the lack of “Visions”, caused by
excessive amounts of Snowfall, was a major contributor
to all-day exceptional speed and traction. Of Course...
the foundations of fabulously smooth grooming gave all
the new snow a marvelous base to settle on, so tomorrow
should see another high-point of performance quality.

For Tomorrow...

-5C and Overcast...
Snowfall Forecast All Day...
Quite Low Southerly winds at 6kmph...

Too Easy...

How could it be anything other than an even higher notch up.
More Snow, More Grooming, More Coverage, and More Opening Terrain???
That’s what we hear from well informed sources anyway.
We could be wrong, but man... there’s a big bunch of new snow
and sooner or later...

47(*) Open Trails on Versant Sud/South, Nord/North Sectors at #Tremblant .

Your Genuine Winter Adventure Starts Here.

This is just the beginning!

The Serious Fun Begins A Little Further Up!

We were looking through the files for a Performance Forecast Pic.
that would reflect the conditions we found yesterday and this
pretty much sums it up. From exactly two weeks ago, this great
action shot on Sud/South, McCulloch, Summit upper pitch, shows
the kind of trail surface quality we not only had yesterday, but
practically speaking, since the day Tremblant Opened back in November!

The degree of confidence that you can clearly see in this Skiers
commitment to the edge-set angle of inclination is exactly what
we surprisingly found yesterday, almost everywhere in the Open,
Expert Terrain. Surprising because of the extent of the overnight
transformation from a warm-to-refroze Fall temperature oscillation
about 30 hours prior. In the “Good Old Days”, that kind of temp.
swing from above Zero C to way below Zero C, could leave Icy bits
for weeks. Not anymore at Tremblant. The point of all this is to
highlight the remarkable capability of the Mountain Crews here to
capitalize on the cool temp drops to render out superb performance
with the grooming that integrated new snowfall for nearly seamless
performance the morning after.

The point of all this is...
If you’re traveling to Tremblant from London England, or London Ontario,
or London Ohio(**), what you really want to know is that you’re going to a
place that has the logistical support and infrastructure capable of overnight
recoveries from the natural weather swings that can randomly happen.
That’s exactly what we got at Tremblant yesterday.

Weather Notes:

Warmer, a lot less indicated wind, and overcast with
a nice 4cm cushion of additional new snow. We’ll Take It!!!

Conditions Notes:

An important Utility Note(minor rant) For Tremblant Guest Arrivals,
or Anyone traveling to Ski/Board anywhere in the World:

((**)Speaking of “Ohio”...)

Riding back on the bus to Sud/South parking @ P2 a couple of
days ago, we had a very illuminating, but all too typical conversation
with Guests from Cleveland Ohio who were lamenting a bit of icy they
had found. Our first question whenever the topic of “Icy” comes up
is... “When did you last have your edges tuned up? The answer...
“I don’t know, this is my Dad’s old board and I just grabbed it
on the way out the door.” We could see the burrs and rust running
the length of the snowboard edges with the naked eye.

The point is, you are making a substantial effort, over a substantial
time frame, to travel a substantial distance, at a substantial total
trip cost, but for the sake of about $30.00 Bucks for a Ski/Board
tuneup, you have a grossly substantial loss of performance potential for
the very activity you have made all the other substantial commitments
to get here for. It just does not make any sense at all to compromise the
very thing you have come to do, for the sake of pennies compared to the
overall trip costs.

Fortunately, there is a blissfully easy solution for all arriving Tremblant
Guests. Due to the volume of work largely necessary for the Ski-Rental
fleet, Tremblant has just about the very finest automated Ski/Board
tuning machines on Earth, right at the Sud/South Resort Base level,
inside the Chalet Des Voyageurs, adjacent to the Cabriolet.

They have a “Crazy Good” discounted overnight Tune-up Special and
if you can’t remember when you had your Skis/Board tuned up, or,
there are visible burrs and rust on the edges of your Dad’s old Board
you’re grabbing on the way out the door... Drop Your Skis/Board Off
There The Moment You Arrive, and the next morning you will Laugh
at “icy”, and think someone GAVE YOU NEW SKIS(or Board). Period.

We think it’s CRAZY to travel all that distance, for all that time,
at all that cost, to Ski/Board a real World Class Alpine Snow Sports
Mountain the caliber of Tremblant, with dull, rusty, way out of tune
gear. You’re literally shooting yourself in the foot for the very purpose
you’ve come here for. We understand how it happens, and we’re not
critical of our friend from Cleveland because it’s just not necessarily
a “Top-Of-Mind” thing, but when you think about it...

This point applies to Any Skier/Boarder, going to ANY Ski/Board destination.

Figuratively Speaking...

Don’t Bring Your Ferrari To The Track With Flat Tires.

Moving On...

New Developing Open Terrain, “Contour Grooming” Sample.

Versant Nord/North Side, Trail # 79, Sissy Schuss, Haut Upper.

In yesterday’s Apres Ski we touched on the “Contour Grooming”
construction underway for a contour-shaped descent line for
that “Spicy” variety currently popular in the inventory of every
Ski Resort. Tremblant has dedicated the upper portion of Sissy
Schuss to that end and here is a three pic. “Before” series. We
will do our very best to get there for “After” pic’s as it is shown
as Open status this morning.

They are literally moving tons of snow around to
create this Contour Groomed descent path.

It’s always very cool to watch big equipment working
but the added interest here is that it’s not just routine,
this work requires an Artistic touch to get just the right
flow for a naturally fun Ski/Board experience.

Hopefully we’ll have some “After" Pic’s for Apres Ski tonight.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
