T360 Prime Time Apres Ski Edit, Under Progressive Assembly At 8:55 P.M.

This below will tell you about 75% of what you need to know.

Pictures like the one above can and do prove the notion that
a good photo is worth a thousand words. Any experienced
skier is going to look at todays conditions illustrated here on
Nansen’s upper pitch an immediately know very precisely what
kind of essay could be written about the performance guests at
Tremblant enjoyed today.

The other 25% of what you need to know was that it was a
typical Opening Weekend Saturday, and there were some
traffic related moguls building by mid afternoon. No doubt
too, that the firm snowmaking base became traffic exposed
in spots. On that score we can tell you for a fact that our
edges that were tuned just before the end of last season,
were working great at holding very well across all the
little slippery bits.

Nansen Haut/Upper kept 99.99% near perfect smoothness
all day long, without exception, so it would get our “Smooth
Cruising” award du jour.

The lift traffic was actually less than we might have expected
and maybe that’s not so surprising as the uphill capacity was
more than capable of keeping most lines at just about 5 minutes
or less. There could have been longer burps occasionally, but
we somehow managed to avoid them if they occurred.

Onto a different note...

There is a lot of professional staff training going on and a very
fine example of that could be observed on the Sud/South Mi Chemin
lift training module. Below is a snap shot showing Ski Patrol crews
setting up rescue cables for practice.

We think it’s good to know that even in the remote eventuality
that any form of rescue was necessary, the pro’s at Tremblant
are right up to date on the knowledge and skills that could make
all the difference to our safety.

On the lighter side...

The Versant Sud/South Side Alpine Bas/Lower, Progression Park
was very active today and there was a steady stream of exhibitors
with the usual gravity defying skills making it all look easy.

For Tomorrow...

Sunny to start, temp’s rising from the freezing
mark to roughly +4C with overcast developing
around noon. Sud/South base levels may see
some late afternoon rainy bits but we think
that could be snow up on the Mountain elevations.

There could be some trail traffic in the morning, but
it is very common for Sunday afternoons, to empty
just after lunch as folks head home to Theirville .
We think that’s going to be especially true tomorrow
because of the American Thanksgiving Holiday group
who have a bit of trek to get back south of the border.

16(*) Open Trails On Sud/South And Nord/North Sectors At #Tremblant .

Expanding Already!

The big news in the expansion story is going to be
the progressive opening of Trail # 23, Versant Sud/South
Taschereau, a very popular local favourite which is located
on the Summit/top half. It eventually merges with
Trail # 19, Charron. This descent path ends up at the
TGV Quad Base.

You can expect a lot of local’s attention to this one as
Taschereau is the first Official Black Diamond, Expert
trail opening of the season. Below is a file shot from
our archives of last season and the views here today
should not be too far from this exact pic.

iPhone pic's from a T360 fan on the Mountain today:

Race teams with tomorrow’s World Cup Champions and Olympic Gold
Medal winners start training at Tremblant from first tracks.

These teams come from far and wide across most of Eastern Canada
because THEY KNOW TREMBLANT DELIVERS GREAT EARLY CONDITIONS!

Weather Notes:

Sunny days in late November are not all that common
so we consider it a real treat to have what is likely to
be a very pleasant day of spectacular panoramic beauty,
with really easy temps that will seem rather spring-like.

If, if, if, it ends up being actually close to the forecast,
one of the very best elements of the hourly conditions
is the low ambient wind speed.

Riding up the TGV Quad with a tail wind and the sun on
your back will generate genuine warmth to the point of
“Hot”, so no need for bulky layers today!

Conditions Notes:

Improving daily across all ranges of open, groomed
terrain because of the noticeable, tangible, real benefits
from the “Break In” phase of each new season, where
Skier/Boarder traffic helps to render out finer particle
sizes in the top layer blend.

It was already great starting conditions to begin with due
to the very high ratio of natural snow in the trail mix, so
a rapid escalation in refinement is just going to make it
so much sweeter. For those reasons we want to point out
that in the history of opening days sequences, this is one of
both exceptional initial quality and scope, and that should be
a motivating factor for getting out today.

Additional Very Important Expansion News:

Look at the Versant Nord/North Side Snowmaking icons closely
in the Official Trail Status file below. The Lowell Thomas Sector
is undergoing a tremendous effort of early development, not to
mention the Blue Skill Level terrain work going on in the Expo
Sector with Sissy Schuss and Fuddle-Duddle.

This is fantastic early development and should be noted by
anyone sitting on the fence about future plans, get your gear
in shape now so you are ready for what’s on the way... Great
early season skiing!

Page under gradual construction, please periodically refresh.

We are still sorting out start-up logistical items which we
hope to have results for, within hours. Additionally, we hope
to begin our seasonal Apres Ski reporting today, so please
come back later to check for that.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
