3/11/23 #Tremblant Conditions

102/102 (*) Open Trails On All 4 Open Sectors At #Tremblant .

Yin/Yang Tremblant.

In The Distinct Differences Between The Sides
Of Tremblant, We Called This Pattern Right....

Versant Sud/South Side:

Warm “Shred"

Versant Nord/North Side:

Cool “Dust”

With the temps so very close to Zero C, but not necessarily over it,
we have been calling for the Summit to be the dividing line between
the daily evolution of basically two separate ambient conditions,
where the Sud/South becomes “Spring-Like”, and the Nord/North
stays “Winter-Like”.

We have summarized those characteristics with the two pic’s above
where you can clearly see the differences in the way the surface snow
reacts to the turning force of skis. The “curl” of snow off the Sud/South
Johannsen skiers skis is the obvious softness of solar radiated,
ever-so-slightly warmed snow, while the snow “dust” in the air off
the racers skis at the top of Nord/North Rigodon is the obvious presence
of completely dry and fully crystalline snow that has not been affected
by heat in any way.

The net effect is that for most of the day, you can alternate between
spring and winter skiing every 15 minutes by simply going back and
forth over the Summit to either side, or you can remain completely
spring or winter by simply staying on one side or the other.

A most unique, multi-day scenario of Mother Nature keeping Tremblant
right on a very fine balance point at just below Zero C, where the intensity
of the mid-day and afternoon solar energy is just enough to tip the balance
to a very gentle softening of the Sud/South surfaces.

Weather Notes:

We expect our “Yin/Yang” phenomenon to become evident
at around 10:30 A.M.

Speaking of “Spring Break”, this weekend is a two-day overlap
of the end of the Quebec School Holiday and the beginning
of the Ontario School Holiday. It may be busy. Please be patient
at lift bases and please also be patient on the trails. Allow extra
passing margins and realize that especially on Green Trails,
Beginners can make unpredictable, and sudden directional changes
so Please, Please, Please... slow down in Green/Blue zones with higher
traffic density.

Conditions Notes:

BONUS NEWS!!!

WEEKEND OPEN HOURS TO 4:30 P.M.

In the Groomed:

Very fine to excellent, everywhere, with noted
differences between sunny and shaded sectors
with temps primarily below Zero C, but evolving
to a couple of above on Sud/South.

Performance optimization will be a direct function
of edge tuned status. If you got dull edges, you
gunna think there’s some icy bits that are mostly
just high density super compacted snow. If you got
fresh, sharp edges, you gunna carve like a Surgeon
with a sharp scalpel. Period.

In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Continued a la Carte, very individual characteristics
with highly variable challenge and hazard possible
within any descent path.

There are zones of very raw, and there are zones of
really excellent.

Explore carefully, observe patterns and be aware that
weekend traffic will likely influence conditions over
a days use.

Evidently the +8 C high temp at 1:55 P.M. has blown the
+2 C forecast away. The Sud/South softening will become
quite pronounced at these values.

There is a unique and delicate balance in durable
winter conditions with daily evolved overtones of
spring. If you can go, do it, your reward is thrilling
performance and really easy weather.
