T360 Apres Ski Utility Notice:

Please Note: Your intrepid author here has received a catastrophic
injury on the Mountain today as the consequence of a blind-side,
direct, hit and run impact. While descending from the Summit on
La Crete, and without warning, we were struck by an out of control
person from the left rear, and knocked approximately 2.5 metres
sideways to the ground.

The person who struck us did not remain on the scene.

This accident necessitated a Ski Patrol Med-Evac on a rigid board rescue
sled for spinal safety protocols and subsequent Paramedic attendance.
We are immobilized. Something feels broken. We require Hospital
attendance for diagnostic evaluation, and any potential medical
interventions. At this stage, that unfortunately looks like it is going to
prevent normal field work based reporting for the remainder of this season.

We will make every attempt possible to maintain daily archival
copies of the Official Snow Report and The Weather Network
daily meteorological data for the integrity of time period research.

Where do we go from here?

Despite the Spring weather challenges...

Tremblant Always Delivers Easy.

When there are highly variable spring precipitation and temperature
oscillations, it’s good to know you can count on Tremblant to still
deliver an outstanding Beginner and Intermediate learning experience.
Here is all the proof you need.

We frequently write that because genuine Experts can always
take care of themselves, it is very important to specifically
support the most sensitive group of guests, i.e., Beginners
and Intermediates with the reassurance that no matter what
weather challenges exist, like yesterdays flash-freeze cold snap,
vast quantities of superlative learning terrain are always available.
The above shot within Nansen’s 6 kilometre descent pathway is
absolute confirmation of that and just like every other day of the
season, Nansen was a joy to be on with near flawless smoothness.

Its gentle pitch and generous width are the main dimensional
features and Mountain Crews always devote tremendous
time and machine resources into keeping it up to this easy
and very forgiving quality. The firmness that gave the steeper
challenges elsewhere on the Mountain just made Beginner
conditions here very responsive with virtually zero friction,
so working on basic technique is simple, uncomplicated,
and quickly rewarding fun.

This pic below, from the Johannsen trail descent to the Versant Sud
South Side Resort Base, was the very softest spot on the entire Mountain
yesterday, however by this afternoon we expect it to be similarly
soft on a more wide reaching basis as the air temp goes above Zero C.

Weather Notes:

Roughly 9 out of 10 of the most recent weather profiles
like this have held colder than usual elevation temp.
spreads of between -5C to as much as -9C, cooler
than base levels. We have gotten snow each time.
We hope to see a repeat today. It is our feeling that
it is Jet Stream winds aloft that are considerably colder
than normal and convection has dropped some of that
onto the Mountain and given us a remarkable late winter
run right on up to this very moment.

The Sunday Crowd...

As usual, Sunday afternoon and it’s quite like
your very own private club...

We expect today to be similar in the smoothness
and of course in the coverage, but maybe it could
end up being a wee bit softer here and everywhere
else as the temps rise.

Conditions Notes:

Today is Day-2 of a completely Sub-Zero C extended cycle,
so that automatically means that there should be substantial
and very noticeable increases in the overall depth and
consistency of wide-ranging groomed skiable soft top
layers in the starting conditions, compared to yesterday.

The default was and will continue to be universal smoothness,
so no matter what kind of weather influences there were or
will be, the wall-to-wall, Summit-to-Base smoothness within
the entire groomed array makes anything and everything easier.

Yesterday was what we’d call a very technical day, we expect
today to be far less sensitive, way more forgiving, especially
over the steeper Blue and Black terrain. If snow does fall over
cooler elevations, it could end up being quite a sweet sort-of
fly under the radar afternoon.

Obviously, it is the Sous Bois category that is the most
sensitive to the temp swings, but there are numerous
expected openings so the best thing to do is check with
the Summit Info. Ski Crews for latest updates.
