1/5/24 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

.

53(*) Open Trails.

Weather Notes:

Cool to start with, but warming quickly and with
a lot less wind than yesterday, so easier to deal
with in the wind-chill department.

The most interesting part of the weather picture
is the long range forecast where we basically have
the net effect of a “Conveyer Belt” of west-to-east
flowing active systems over the next 2 weeks that
both individually and accumulatively have excellent
natural snowfall potential.

“The Big One” potential has been so-far indicated
for next Wed. We are including a supplementary
document below on that one and for those regional
Tremblant fans that have discretionary planning
capability, we’d suggest you keep your decks cleared
for that as it could be a very big powder day.

It is still too early to know exactly how this progression
of low pressure systems will or could twist, swirl or
contort in order to change the dimensional effects
when they transit the Tremblant area several days
from now, however... the odd’s are highly favourable,
dare say the most favourable for the so-far season,
that this could indeed be “The Big One”.

Conditions Notes:

More open trails with more natural snowfall is a great
combination for the gradual increase in overall quality
and quantity after what has been a very challenging
early season recent weather pattern.

Every season is “relative” to it’s own unique circumstances
and so when Mother Nature does not exactly cooperate,
in this case it’s been low snow so-far over virtually the
whole North American continent, to have this amount of
very refined, groomed open terrain is certainly a blessing.
The point is that when many other North American ski
areas are operating at far less open when expressed as
percentage of their totals, Tremblant has been quietly
and fortunately flying under the radar with a fabulous
array of very fine groomed terrain and has steadfastly
maintained close to 50% open for weeks on end.

Obviously, without a lot of natural snow, snowmaking
has been the principle source of coverage and so until
a really big snowstorm hits(this coming week?), the
Sous Bois/Glade/Hors Piste fans are going to have to
be patient for a wee bit longer.

In the meantime, the roughly 10 cm’s total of incremental
snowfall increases over the past few days has added a gorgeous
framework of snow-laden tree boughs as well as a legitimate,
natural, functional finishing touch to the groomed trail array.

Please Note: Your T360 author is not yet able to
be on site due to a post-surgical, medical LOA.
We expect to have that cleared by mid-December.
12.16.23-UPDATE: Due to LOA logistical support
issues, plus Holiday season scheduling, return
delayed but working on A.S.A.P.

Thanks for your patience. In the mean-time, we
intend to maintain the daily, chronologically filed,
weather and trail status data plus whatever
observational commentary possible for archival
date/seasonal/historical period sampling.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
