A Unique Mother Nature 2 Day Sale On Conditions(#).

(#) There has been an extended period of cold that is
fully embedded now in the Mountain surface strata
and it is strong enough, and durable enough that
even though the temps are going to end up almost
20C warmer at todays high, than the coldest recent
low’s, we predict that all of the cold winter skiing
performance is going to remain completely intact.

In other words, it’s going to be a super-easy warmer
day, but with all the cryogenic surface performance
of super-cool snow. Sort of a “Best Of Both Worlds”
kind of thing. We forecast these unique conditions
as being predominant in the groomed for today
and tomorrow.

This forecast is brought to you by “Convection”, i.e.,
The Laws Of Physics, where heat rises and cold sinks,
a natural physical occurrence where the cold injection
of recent days is going to want to stay exactly where
it is, deep within the trail strata below your skis, and
as long as atmospheric temps remain below Zero C,
regardless of what the air above is doing.

Weather Notes:

Next 2 days... Easy winter, followed by a wee “January Thaw”, however...

We are not at all concerned with the forecast
3 or 4 days out yet because they could change
either up or down between now and then, and/or,
because at the low single-digit above Zero C values
projected for the Sud/South Base levels, the naturally
cooler by common -4C to the Summit could have the
elevated trail network at or below Zero C during that
forecast period.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Today has the potential to maybe be the best and/or easiest
day of the season, so-far, due to the unique circumstances
generated by the recent cold under todays far warmer, but
still below Zero C air.

The level of refinement in the freshly groomed surfaces should
be nothing short of excellent as very close to ideal levels of
compaction and top layer trail snow density should yield
outstanding performance across the entire range of groomed
skill level runs.

This continues to be primo learning and skills improvement
snow that is easy to exert control over and simultaneously
is forgiving, so regardless of your actual skills, very easy to
make advancements on. Skiing Tremblant right now can make
you better by noticeable degrees every single day... if you apply yourself.

On top of that, it’s Monday, a work and school day, so
tourist traffic will be minimal as technically this is “Low
Season”, so the wide open ranges of the groomed are
really going to seem “Wide Open”.

If you are reading this at any time in the future while
researching for the very best possible combinations
of great conditions and uncrowded slopes, this is why
we refer to this period, running from Mid-January until
the third week in February(or so), “Value Weeks”.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades/Un-Groomed:

For today a similar projection for retained cold within all
top trail layers, however this category has a couple of
end-of-day wild cards because the surfaces are not all
smooth so the warmer air has more of chance to permeate
some top surfaces in the nooks and crannies of jumbled
up un-packed snow when exposed over a period of hours.

Where the groomed smooth has more of a sheet-like barrier
that can easily hold for days, the un-groomed does not, so
even though we think cold conditions will hold all day today,
the likelihood is that there may be a quicker or more noticeable
humidity rise in the Sous Bois group tomorrow.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
