“Impressions Of Speed."

If this pic gives you any sense of speed, then we
have been very successful at conveying a major
attribute of Tremblant today...

Wicked FAST !!!!!

More on Racer Kids tomorrow, but in the meantime...

One of the reasons it was so very fast today was
that the sunshine forecast, never made it at all,
nada, none, not a sparkle or a single ray, it was
low ceiling cloud cover all day. The Summit was
actually in the cloud for practically all day. That,
plus virtually no wind, allowed the embedded cold
in the surfaces to radiate outward, just enough
to effectively maintain 100% integrity of genuine
winter ski surfaces all day as well, despite the rise
in Summit air temps to exactly Zero C.

The winter quality of snow extended fully into
the best parts of the Sous Bois/Hors Piste.

Looking closely at the crystalline structures on the
very fine tree branches below(each of them is less than
1/8 inch, 2/3mm diameter), you can see what is essentially
ultra fine cloud particles congealing on each other to form
little frost tentacles. That same action was happening on
trails in a horizontal plane and the ever-so-slight humidity
and crystalline surface formation seemed to be acting like billions
and billions of ball bearings under your skis. This all resulted
in super quick and super fun on the groomed, but there was
a bit of thickness to it in the Sous Bois.

We think the summary for today could be summed
up as the happy faces pictured below....

We had hoped to have had time to do
more with the weather reporting but
there are a lot of variables, too many
variables, so we need to wait for the
morning to get a more accurate idea
of how the potential rainy bits might
end up as.

If you look at the heavy rain icons for
Friday in todays forecast data below,
it now appears as though that may
not happen at all here, so there is great
potential that Tremblant could escape
what some southern latitudes may see
in rain, that we might get as snow up here.

98(*) Open Trails.

For Today...

Totally Unique, One Day, Very Mild,
Very Easy, Snow White Winter Conditions.

Our One Pic. Forecast:

1.23.24.Lac.T.Views.Sunny.Mt.T.Snow.White.Winter.a.jpg

The scene above is from 48 hours ago, but we expect
things to look virtually identical today. The unique part
is the rare combination of any part of sunny in the midst
of a warm spell that at only +1C at ground levels, stands
a very good chance of remaining below Zero C at Mountain
elevations that are typically -4C cooler.

Weather Notes:

We hope to expand the weather notes later on
as the developing January thaw over much of
North America may actually escape Tremblant
to a ski-functional degree. More later at Apres Ski.

--------------- Environment Canada Freezing Drizzle Advisory: --------------

Please Note: This Weather Advisory is more likely to
affect safe driving to/from the Mountain than ski
conditions. We expect that at the temp values
forecast during the precipitation periods, the
inherently cooler trail elevations might only get snow.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Fantastic, Fun, Fast, Fabulous...

All the recent cold is firmly embedded in the groomed
trail base, and thanks to “Convection” where cold sinks
and heat rises, the “cold sinks” part should be the
dominant force in action throughout the entire day.

So far, it is not sunny, and at these temp values we’d
be happy if it did not get sunny at all because we don’t
need any solar thermal action on the precious all winter,
dry, high performance trail snow surfaces.

If it does become really sunny, we could see some thermal
action, but it would be primarily on the Sud/South exposures
and the shaded Nord/North sectors would be the least effected.

A lot of wild cards at Zero C, as usual.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Please review the previous few days for overviews that
should carry forward today.

Very much a la carte, ranging with unique excellence
and unique risk, this group of trails needs to be respected
for all Ski Patrol hand posted warnings/advisories. Take
all signs seriously. Genuine Experts Only Please...

Nearly infinite wild cards in these zones.

At The End Of The Day...

Whenever there are any degree of wild card factors
in dynamic conditions, we encourage all Tremblant
Guests to consult with the Info.Ski team members
who are radio controlled with literally up-to-the-minute
Mountain Intel and are absolutely the very best and most
accessible source of quality information. Talk to them
anywhere you see them on the Mountain and optimize
everything from your next run to the whole day.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
